NEW MEMBER INTRODUCTIONS!

I really enjoy this forum so I figured I better introduce myself. I drive a TRD Tacoma DCSB. I get out and trail run, bike, hike, geocache whenever possible.

I am also currently serving in the Army as a Logistics Officer.

Welcome X... share your name and location with us. Can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a Tacoma at some point. Be sure to produce on demand a vehicle load plan when attending one of our events to confirm that you're a good Army Logistician. ;)

Welcome to American Adventurist! We look forward to hearing about your trips, make sure you read or Forum Rules and have fun here! I've been following you guys on IG - good stuff. I really like this quote from your site, we share the same view.

We believe in promoting mutually beneficial communities and society. The most important aspect of this vision, to us, is the understanding that, as people, we are connected through history and the land where we live. How we interact with both people and the land reveals who we really are.

Hello ladies and gents, My name is Anthony Meeks and I'm a Photojournalist. I moved to the west coast looking for adventure and this seems like the best place to start. I'm a man of few words but ask me anything and I will answer.

Hey, I just found this forum via the /r/overlanding subreddit. I'm based out of Northern Utah and have extensive off roading experience on day trips around the western US, including Moab, UT. I am trying to get into overlanding and have my first major trip planned for December 2015 in Baja, Mexico. My vehicle of choice is a 2006 Nissan XTerra "Off Road" edition that I have spent the last several years modifying for day trips. It is also my daily driver (when not on a motorcycle), tow vehicle, hauler, dog transporter, etc. so I can't go too overboard with the mods.

Here's roughly what my rig looks like today, although I have since changed the rear bumper so I now have fuel can carriers (no adventure photos of the new bumper in action yet):

A front bumper is currently in the works that will give me a better approach angle and more protection for my radiator and other important bits.

Mods so far:
Rear bumper from Maximum Design
Sliders from Maximum Design
Skid plates by Shrockworks
Custom rear springs by Alcan
Adjustable shackles by PRG
Bilstien 5125 long-stroke rear shocks
Front suspension by PRG with RadFlo shocks and PRG UCAs
Moog LCAs with serviceable ball joints
Custom rear drive shaft with serviceable U-joints (ditched the CV joint when it failed)
CB Radio
ICOM 2M 75W ham radio
BF Goodrich All Terrain TA KO tires in 285/75/16 - with two spares

I know there is some debate about the benefit of aftermarket parts in terms of finding replacements for failures. This vehicle was originally intended for weekend wheeling while still being a good daily driver and being able to tow motorcycles. It has evolved over the years and most parts on it were replaced when the stock part failed prematurely or was inadequate for the job. Much of the work has taken place under the vehicle. When U-joints failed they got upgraded to greaseable ones. When the non-servicable CV-joint on the rear drive shaft failed it was replaced with a serviceable part. This is basically how it has gone and continues to go as my Nissan evolves.

Hey MrKaplan, you should consider coming down to the Overland Expo in May at Mormon Lake just south of Flagstaff Arizona. Otherwise welcome to the family...I'll be up in your neck of the woods sometime this summer. I really love the Logan Canyon area, the Green River, and Dinosaur, Vernal. Utah is an awesome state all over! Can't get enough!

Welcome SideFXPhoto, I'll always envy people that can take pictures like that! Awesome please keep them coming.

Welcome MrKaplan, and ditto on Overland Expo/Mormon Lake it's quite the gathering. I'm planing a Baja trip around the same time Nov/Dec 2015. Who knows?

One of these days I will get down to the Expo. I have to manage my time off pretty carefully between trips to visit the family overseas, motorcycle sport touring, and overlanding. This year is already looking really packed with a trip to California, possibly a 10-day motorcycle trip to the Dakotas, and Baja at the end of the year

Hello everyone, my name is Cody. I had the pleasure of meeting Bob "bob91yj" this weekend at the Los Coyotes run. My rig is a 2013 Jeep Wrangler sport. Just starting off with getting it built up for serious off-roading.

Takes a brave man to spend the weekend with Bob and still be willing to check out the group.

Welcome
