Snow Peak....anonymous

I tried the amazon Japan route before but they would only ship magazines and books etc...

On the left hand side make sure "International Shipping Eligible" is checked.

Thats SO LAST YEAR! Lol
Yeah.... even I draw the line on some things... its nifty, but bulky and unnecessary, IMHO... Upwards of $800... not my thing. I have PLENTY of things to waste my money on and enough surfaces for planting my buttocks..

Snow Peak has a couch?

:lol

Not sure if serious or joking ;) so I'll just respond to inform future visitors and addicts.

The Couch is a $749.95 convertible couch that can be used also as a cot, separated into two individual lounge chairs and a coffee table, and also as a camp shelf. The pads are standard closed cell foam so they provide excellent insulation in the cold. Comfortable to sit/lounge on with any blanket with a wind protecting layer to below freezing temps. I've used it a couple times and like it. The one big thing is that I'm more of a "thru" camper vs a "lounge" camper. So putting it together and taking it apart is a bit against my style of camping since when we arrive at camp after sunset, we either want to:

  1. repair
  2. eat
  3. get drunk and sleep

Putting together camp equipment isn't quite the best choice for us.

why did i have to see this.

Those are actually wicked cool if one has the coin and the time.

It would be nice if they were a little more compact. Inflatable pads like the lightweight Therm-a-Rest ProLites w/ the cutouts would be great. Also once the legs are set into the brown panels, they're actually kinda hard to pull out. Design-wise, they're not exceptionally brilliant.

Did anyone also see that they have a solar panel, battery, and room light setup?

There's also a neat hanging tent hammock thing for $1600 bucks now.

If any of you have spent anytime on Japanese cushions/beds/furniture you would know and be right to skip the couch. I sat on one of these at a SP store, I think in Osaka, and it was consistent with Japanese culture... Very firm.

You're welcome to try. But you may end up dealing w/ the massdrop issue where once you add shipping, it's not that great of a deal. Snow Peak JP gives almost no margin to Snow Peak USA since the prices of shipping something from Snow Peak JP to the USA is sometimes break even or even less.
Thanks for this information :)

Very true, and prices are more-or-less the same in Japan as well. Only benefit is marginally better availability.
