Thank you, sir... you've answered my question. I suppose it's only natural for OAUSA members to be drawn to another site with the word "adventurist" in the website name. When I am finished with my current project, I will post some photos here. I have some interesting photos from the road, taken back in the days of paid tourism (trucking). Model employee that I was, I routinely burned company fuel and used those 10-ton tractors as RVs to access crags, lakes, rivers, all manner of parks including show caves, the whole nine yards. The project I mentioned is an electronic manuscript with 31 tales of adventure and 10 poems, the stories complete with photos incorporated directly into the text. It has been an education, catching up with this modern literary scene, kinda like navigating a minefield... KABOOM!!! LOL. I'll be glad when the project is finally up and running, because I want to write a story on my recent Salton Expedition, something which needs to be done... the Salton is such a jewel, the scenery surrounding that toxic lake is UNREAL, with long desert views over water that resembles colored glass one moment and molten chocolate the next. There's even a ghostly Twilight Zone echo at the center of the lake... my friend and I accidentally discovered it by yodeling and hollering in our usual fashion. Had the entire Salton Sea to ourselves, of course, just one more reason why we were laughing the whole time... maybe the toxic fumes had something to do with it, LOL. All I can tell you hands is this: deal with the foul-smelling toxic sludge and shoals of dead fish without hesitation, because once you're well away from shore there is no foul odor, there are no calf-deep banks of fish bones to wade through, it's all wide-open scenery with primo desert ranges in the distance, and a quiet solitude one rarely finds in Southern California... and I ought to know, since I've spent my entire life in the field. Trust me on this one, just get out there and experience the Salton before it is totally ruined, or before they restore it and the crowds appear (LOL). I waited 50 years before fulfilling my dream of sailing the Salton Sea, but now I can truthfully say that I belong to a select club of mariners... not many sailors in CA can truthfully claim to have cruised the Salton.
