Well, this weekend we finally finished the most important "prep" work: Finally got my daughter (6) to see the original trilogy.
This has been a long-standing challenge for us as parents, due to our daughter's mental roadblock against seeing movies in general. Seriously, she would get freaked out and run crying out of the room when we tried to screen
Cinderella. The Disney version. This went on for so long that
I wrote about it more than a year and a half ago.
But finally, we're there. She's hooked.
And so, we'll be seeing Episode 7 together, as a family, just like I'd hoped. I saw Star Wars in the theater in 1977. Apparently, I crawled into my Mother's lap as soon as Darth Vader made his entrance, and stayed there for the rest of the film. I cannot begin to explain how significant the Trilogy has been in my life since, but now I will take my mother and my daughter both to see the next film. I only hope she'll sit in my lap, instead of in Grandma's. ;-)
