The Star Wars Thread

I'm patiently waiting for the release with my friend Boba but my patience is wearing thin.

I was streaming the game at work and was able to watch it. I'm glad I only saw the JJAbrams-lens-flare once. I'm hoping it's not excessive in the actual movie like all his others... Looking forward to its release!

Eck, 3D gives me headaches and ruins the experience... I don't know how you Rebel Scum can sit through 3D movies.

IMAX alone is the ultimate power in the universe. I say that's all you need to watch it.

This.

The amount of made-in-China gimmickery in the retail sector already has my stomach turning. I mean, c'mon.

And Yoda help them if they start pulling their in-the-vault, out-of-the-vault BS with the franchise. Only re-releasing the original, pre-Lucas-vanity-touchup versions could spare them the millions of voices crying in out in anger.

If they can do to Star Wars what Abrams and Paramount did to Star Trek in recent years, I think my cerebellum might fuse.

Such a proud Daddy. My little girl picked this out of all the other crap out there for her Halloween costume this year. She even said she's wearing it to the first showing that we have tickets to on Thursday at 7pm!!!!

Wife and I got so taken by her love of all things Star Wars the we are even dressing up. Last time I dressed up I was 12!!!!! I bought a Kylo Ren outfit and the wife got a sassy Darth Vader costume. Gonna rock the neighborhood for the Dark Side.

Imwas conflicted. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, as you probably know, but I'm not a wait in line for a movie kind of guy. I typically wait until after the first weekend to see a good movie. Monday nights are usually good bets for a less crowded experience. But chances are, Ep. 7 will be insane for a week or more and I can't wait THAT long.

In the midst of my conflict, my gym notified all of its clients (it's a relatively small boot camp type of gym) that the owner had reserved one showing for all of the clients. Score! No waiting, no frantic attempts to secure tickets online, and a 6:30 PM showing on opening night.

Well, this weekend we finally finished the most important "prep" work: Finally got my daughter (6) to see the original trilogy.

This has been a long-standing challenge for us as parents, due to our daughter's mental roadblock against seeing movies in general. Seriously, she would get freaked out and run crying out of the room when we tried to screen Cinderella. The Disney version. This went on for so long that I wrote about it more than a year and a half ago.

But finally, we're there. She's hooked.

And so, we'll be seeing Episode 7 together, as a family, just like I'd hoped. I saw Star Wars in the theater in 1977. Apparently, I crawled into my Mother's lap as soon as Darth Vader made his entrance, and stayed there for the rest of the film. I cannot begin to explain how significant the Trilogy has been in my life since, but now I will take my mother and my daughter both to see the next film. I only hope she'll sit in my lap, instead of in Grandma's. ;-)
