The Road to "Totality"

I'm in for where ever we decide to stay. If we decide on a pay to play and they have reservations left, post a link.

I'm back on the phone right now waiting for an operator from recreation.gov to see how many sites are available at deadwood reservoir

I reserved both sites; 5 & 8 for the 21-22. That's the best I could get. Monday the 21st -Tuesday the 22nd. Being that it's going to be weekdays at that point I don't see it as a problem finding other sites. This is awesome wheeling country and Deadwood Reservoir is nearly straight north of Lowman in the Boise NF road 555 north from ID 21. Back in the 90's there were 3-5 separate Squatch sightings here. It's also the site of the Ghost Town of Deadwood and the Mine and there's also a boat ramp and some of the old cabins are available to rent as well. This spot is also on a closer lineup with the Eclipse than Bull Trout Lake but it's also further west of Stanley, but not too much. Room for 4-5 vehicles. $44 for both spots for one night. Thoughts?

5 sightings

It looks like there are 4 CG's around deadwood reservoir the first in the south being Cozy Cove, then Hower, then Barneys and at the northern end, Riverside. Being that it's a little further away from Stanley I imagine there might be less people and we might be able to move to a campground nearby where there is room for all people to have their own site. If everybody is cool with deadwood reservoir I will go ahead and cancel the bull trout lake CG site.

Once everybody chimes in about deadwood reservoir I will call tomorrow to find out about the other three campgrounds on the reservoir to see if there is one that might have more sites open.

Also, for all of those concerned I would try to pick up all of your supplies in Boise because Lowman offers very little amenities and it is the same for Stanley and it's surrounding areas. Coming from that direction I'd say get everything in Ketchum or Sun Valley. Or Salmon/Challis if coming in from the NE.

I have some excellent areas I could share with y'all. After Deadwood up through Landmark to Yellow Pine and either go up the back way into Warren along part of the IDBDR then over to Burgdorf Hot Springs before heading south into McCall (sportsman's paradise). Or go up to Lick Creek Summit..........

The Four CG's along Deadwood Reservoir

In the north is Riverside

The next heading south along the lake shore is Barney's where we currently have two sites reserved.

The next is Howers CG

Cozy Cove is at the southern end with boat ramp

Fire Lookout Cabin Rental and CG's at Deadwood. Watching this last video shows at Riverside Campground, at the north end of the lake and towards the end of summer, salmon swimming up the river. Hmmmmmm......

I'm just along for the ride, I'm in for whatever you guys decide on. It's Garrett's show, and Dan knows more about Idaho than I do about my own neighborhood.

That looks like a great spot. You're lucky that you were able to reserve something! I had checked reserveamerica and called around to all the hotels, but everything was booked or double/triple priced. We can plan to stay there, we like that it has a lake! Part of our plan is to stay near bodies of water for a photo project we're doing along the way. We were planning to boondock it somewhere, but having a spot does provide a peace of mind.

So, please give me a head and vehicle count and thanks
