The Road to "Totality"

^^^^Yes.

We're packing layer's, to include rain gear.

We've got most of our gear we're bringing together. I still need to get over to the old house and grab a few things.

T-minus 11 days!

It's so close! There's not too much to pack. I'm bringing the usual camping gear, but most of our stops are in a campground and we're on the move so we can pick up supplies along the way at markets and what not.

I still wish I were headed north instead of East in a way, but I've got a bumper to go get and family to visit. I found another interesting option though. I might go to ToAdstock in Alliance, NE. www.toadstockevents.com Or might might end up at Carhenge which is right there too.

I got the webbing on my chairs replaced yesterday, started the repair on the screen door for the camper, only to discover that I bought the wrong size rubber strip for it (I had a 50/50 shot at guessing correctly), got the truck set up with XM radio again, this morning. A few more little odds and ends and we'll be ready!

Well, I got my Jeep back from getting new gears. Got told I have a good leak in the driver rear axle at the hub. I'll have to watch my oil level on the trip since I don't think I can get a replacement shaft with seal in time. A few other odds and ends, but mostly firming up fun activities!

It's a guy that does it in his garage in Yorba Linda and is well known. He only does gears, and we didn't know about the leak until he got under the Jeep.

You still have to pull the axle shafts out to replace the gears, seems he could have at least put a new seal in there for you.

You guys are off on a great adventure. This eclipse happens mid vacation for me. We will be elsewhere in NC for a few days before the event. We are coming home to hunker down on the homestead for the eclipse. We are going to head up into our field for camping and viewing right there on our own property... only to head out for the rest of our trip the next day.

We went up there Sunday night for the full moon, with the telescope and a moon so bright Joe was riding his bike all over the field, "winning the mountain bike race"

Could have. Did not. So I have new chromoly axle shafts coming Friday. Gonna be a fun night! It was new fully assembled chromo axles or fix the old seal for the same price at a shop.
We've got our Tahoe campsite booked! It takes two vehicles so we're set, bob!

well, that was one of the shortest lived jobs I've ever had. I was there all of three days I was about to quit this morning but they beggee that I stay through the weekend. So I agreed to. But then after having spoken with my bosses boss my boss decided he was going to fire me. I've never been so happy to be fired in all my life. That place the gold Creek Lodge and Idaho was a really awesome little place to visit and most of the people there were really great but my boss was a total word that I cannot say on this forum. So the good news is I will be at deadwood reservoir for as long as I want .yippee.

I can meet Bob or whoever else on Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday and I will still have plenty of time to do wheeling exploring after the eclipse. I'm about to go wheeling so I will be out of reception for the next day or so

If I were to choose a befitting pirate name on this forum. Me thinks I'd be ye feared Black Booger and his bouncing bombardier! Argyle Maties! Batten down the hatches! Thar be a dust storm a'brewin! Swarthy raucous brethren ride into in dust storm of Black Booger billowing!!! Me poor eyes be worn as if sandpapered!
