The Road to "Totality"

Got Filters for the camera on the way, should get them with a month to practice shooting and trying to get it right. Hope it isn't storming or cloudy that day, if so this is all for nothing.
Even if it is raining, I'll be actually meeting friends and folks on here I've only ever chatted with online and I get to go to a new place in Idaho that Ive never been to before! If it's raining, it'll just get darker....
6 days to planned departure.

Kind of dumb to take two weeks vacation and drive a couple thousand miles for 3 minutes of darkness in the middle of the day. It's the adventure of the trip for us, and as Dan said, meeting new people, seeing new places, doing knew things!

It's going to be a whirlwind next few weeks for us...getting settled in the new abode, getting the rest of my crap out of my house, and getting the truck prepped for the trip.

Machelle has already done some clothes packing as part of the household goods purge. She made me commit to what clothes I was going to need a month early...I've worn a uniform of some sort virtually all of my adult life, picking a wardrobe is like a trick question for me. The cleanest shorts and tshirt is usually my best answer, followed by a long sleeve tshirt, pants, socks/shoes, and a hoodie. We're packing rain gear for this trip as well.

Dan, have you made the final decision NOT to bring your 'yak (the boat, not the animal)? Garrett, will you have any sort of water craft? I was going to bring my inflatable kayak (I contend it's a canoe), but if no one else is going to, I'm not either, saves me a lot of space.

No, I'm not planning on any water craft.

I cannot bring it due to space limitations. If I find a pontoon while I'm out there....?

I still have this campsite reserved for the Total Lunar Eclipse if anyone wants it for free. It's site number 22 at Bull Trout Lake just outside of Stanley. It is a handicap site and has a spot for a 55 foot vehicle. From Recreation.gov's own laws they had to give it to me because it was the last site available in the campground. If anybody wants this please let me know otherwise I'm going to cancel it. It's for August 21-22. It is on the path of the eclipse. Anyone? @Dave ?

Bob, we reserved camping at South Lake and near Virginia Lakes. Since I'm not familiar with the dispersed camping up there, we wanted to be sure we have a place to crash.

We're headed East for a variety of reasons, a new bumper being one of them. I'm 90% sure we're going to camp on a golf course in Stapleton, NE. They're only charging $20 per night and have a rodeo in town that weekend for some local entertainment. They do have a $49.95 entry fee that come with free glasses and water all day. I'm not sure what else that covers. We're either jumping in with the friendly Cornhuskers or we'll find some place to park/camp nearby.

So what type of weather should I be expecting? I've got weather averages between 90ish and 30ish for that region.
