The Random Thoughts Thread

Does anyone have any experience with recreation outside of San Antonio or Dallas, Texas?

The most wretched hive of scum and villainy ever.

There's some kayaking in the rivers/lakes and hiking in the "hill country" around San Antonio (more like bumps than hills). Some of the rural Farm to Market roads have nice scenery and there are some caves between San Antonio and Austin.

Hit the river walk, Alamo and the Spanish missions in San Antonio. Get BBQ at Rudy's country store and then get out of town.

If you're driving between San Antonio and Dallas hit downtown Austin for a cool vibe. Check out Lambert's for great food and rum infused banana pudding in an awesome historic building.

Hit up Waco for some neat antique stores if you're into that kind of thing, otherwise look for out of the way Farm to Market roads that run through the countryside between there and Dallas.

I have nothing for Dallas and try to avoid it.

Stage 2 fire restrictions in theNF near me and 3 of the top ten all time largest wildfires in CO history have started in the past month. Number 11 started in this time period also.

Random thought come to fruition...

I built this yesterday to celebrate the 4th and also to keep Baxter from shitting on the patio. It is way over kill, made from 1.5 box, 1/8 thick with mitered corners, handy panel grid from Tractor Supply and custom letters from WoodlandManufacturing.com. Headed to the paint shop this weekend!

Well...post recreation outside San Antonio and on your way to Austin...you should definitely stop here: Spoetzl Brewery

Tours start at 11 am, last about 30 minutes (the original small craft brewery, Texas style), with the final destination inside the small shop where you are gifted four wooden Shiner tokens.

Each wood token is redeemable for a freshly tapped 6 ounce social sparkler of your choice.

Check it out if you have time, as well as the nearby town of New Braunfels...lots of cool original German architecture from the 1800's.

It must, why else would anyone buy it? It's is a shinning example of what you do with a T-boned Cruiser.

Don't laugh at this one. Christo Slee from Slee Offroad in Colorado bought a stretched 80 series Landcruiser and has a few roof top tents mounted on it! All show and advertising but cool nonetheless!

Indeed. Great marketing and "show truck".
