The Random Thoughts Thread

After spending the day doing vehicle maintenance and detailing, I believe there's a valid need for a car manufacturer to create an advertising campaign based on the following:

- Easiest wheels to clean

- Bug resistant grills

- Easiest oil filter to change

- Easily accessible headlight/turn signal bulbs

I apparently own vehicles with none of these features. If only I'd known.

And filleted edges on everything so we don't slice open our hands/arms trying to do any of those things.

Private party vehicle sales between two people in CA, what's the deal on sales tax?

*Buyer pays sales tax at DMV based on price listed on transfer documents. If you’re selling a truck with a camper on it, be sure to only list the truck price.

Also, if the person who is buying it get's a "very good deal" on the written sales price on the DMV paperwork, but you got a lot more cash out of it, then I don't know anything about that. I've definitely gotten a few vehicles for significantly below blue book on paperwork... :spy

Ram sedan anyone...

^^^^Crazy story...one of my old service managers daughter was doing tie-dye on a t-shirt and needed an eye dropper. She couldn't find one so she sucked bleach up into an old Visine bottle. Somehow the Visine bottle full of bleach ended up in the medicine cabinet. You guessed it, he put drops in both eyes before he realized that something was REALLY wrong. Fortunately he got his eyes flushed out and to the emergency room quick enough that he didn't have any permanent eye damage.

Good luck with that! Insurance will cover cost of repairing any damage caused by leaking or busted pipes and repair of leaking/busted pipe only. If you choose to repipe the entire house, no way.

Unless you have polybutylene plumbing, in which case there was a huge lawsuit and you may be able to get the entire house replumbed. Although it has to be a very specific age and many homes no longer qualify.

Insurance won't cover anything as there is no physical damage. The pipe itself is my problem. Sounds like a new shower is in order...maybe a second rain shower head on a diverter? Maybe some built in shelves instead of the things that hang on the shower heads? So many ideas!

Not positive how it works in different places, but, if you buy it in Cal, and are a resident elsewhere, or dont register or title it in Cal but elsewhere, you may not have to pay Cal tax, maybe tax in your locale? Worth checking in to if tax is lower in your home state.
