Dave's 05 Tacoma Build

Can you supply more info on that roof light bar? Is it model specific to the double cab? Will it work with other light bars? How does it mount to the roof? How did you route the wiring?

The Rigid Industries SR-50 is not specific to the Tacoma, just a good width for up there. The SoCal Super Trucks mounts use the two OEM threaded mounting points (double cab specific in this case) they are there on all double cabs for the optional factory roof rack. A hole is drilled and a nutsert is added on each side for a total of six bolts holding the bar to the cash. The mount is very theft resistant (see the protected ends that prevent vice grips and the anti-theft nuts that require a special tool). I will further harden this arrangement by adding torx head bolts or something similarly less common in place of the 6 allen head bolts in the roof.

The light is a hybrid spot/flood combo that produces 18750 raw lumens with beam projection out to 1876 meters. Rated at 407000 Candela max output.

Wiring will run down the A pillar by the snorkel, power and switching is still being sorted out.

Looks great Dave! Looking forward to seeing it in person and seeing how you run the wiring.

Got the lights wired up, they are beyond bright...

those SoCal super truck brackets are pretty sweet. I love the low profile, sleek look

Looks great Dave! I guess we'll be following you into the campsites at night! :)

Me too, very solid mounting as well - SoCal Super Trucks did a great job with this design :thumbsup
People tend to bash on so cal super trucks a lot around here, because they build a lot of "bro" trucks here in the inland empire, but I have talked to them on numerous occasions and they are cool guys who "get" what we like to do. They build bro trucks because that's what their customers want, and that's what brings in the $$. Lights are looking good Dave!

Can we get an update on the tech Deck? Does it stay in place well or shake around? Any interference with the HVAC controls? Seems like a cheap upgrade but is it worth it?

If I may chime in-I have the Extreme version and mounted my Galaxy S4, IPad Mini, and a Garmin GPS to mine all at same time with everything staying solid as a rock while driving over washboard roads, mining roads and street. Depending on what you mount on top or bottom and cant to left or right with RAM mounts, can make operation of the A/C controls difficult at times but after a short time you adjust and it's like second nature. My radio has a remote with it so no problem there. Dave of course could have a different experience. I like mine. I have the rear view mirror riser as well but have nothing mounted atm.

I think Dave will elaborate on this as is his custom but he's spending an all expenses paid vacation for the next couple weeks playing pretend in the Southern California desert with a couple thousand of his closest friends courtesy of the United States Marine Corps.

Please be patient while he promulgates a response to your query along with all the other tasks he'll be required to perform as forum Chieftan, Regimental Senior Chief of Marines and Sailors, father and husband as the Holiday Season barrels down on him.

Rock solid. I have an iPad mini and my iPhone mounted to it and it's AWESOME. Get the HD version, I highly recommend the Bird Dawg Industries Tech Deck!!! :thumbsup

x2 - very happy with it and it solved my "cab clutter" with electronics.

Here's a shot by Bryon Dorr of Exploring Elements at our 2014 Toys for Tots event - new vinyl was a big hit :thumbsup

Next up: All-Pro Offroad APEX sliders and some new skids... All-Pro has a new aluminum IFS skid that we're keen to try on!
