The line fire is rapidly approaching the camp site for this years event. Will this event be canceled ?, as of today 09/30/24 14:29 highway 38 is closed.

We simply do not know at this point.

Just got off the phone with Ranger Joe at Camp Tahquitz.

He says there's some mileage between camp and Angelus Oaks so he's hopeful.

Not calling it yet so let's see what happens.

Hi everyone! Our family will have to pull out of the trip. We will not be going this yr as planned. Me and my daughters get severe allergies. Even if the fire does not effect the location, odds are the air quality will not be enjoyable for us. Hope to see yall at the next one!

Just out of curiosity, Can someone confirm / illustrate on the maps the status of Holcomb Creek and John Bull BOH Trails related to the fire?

I was looking forward to attempting one or both of these trails during or around the days of the event. If these are confirmed closed / a PITA to route to and we will most likely be "camping" most of this event, then I don't need to do as much prep/maintenance on my Jeep this up coming weekend to make the event.

Highway 38 has reopened between Angelus Lodge in Angelus Oaks and 5.3 miles west of Big Bear at Lakewood Road, per road conditions information from Caltrans.

The evacuation order for Seven Oaks has been downgraded to a warning, and the warning for Angelus Oaks has been lifted, per San Bernardino County sheriff posts on X.
