2024 Mountain Rendezvous: Official Thread

Added to Calendar: 17-10-24, 18-10-24, 19-10-24, 20-10-24

Just got off the phone with Ranger Joe at Camp Tahquitz.

Highway 38 is now OPEN and the evacuation order for Angeles Oaks and the camp area has been lifted. Joe says the air quality is good onsite.

See you all on the Mountain!

After a meeting in Redlands I decided to go up to Big Bear since Hwy 38 just opened. There wasn't much evidence of the fire until I got past Angelus Oaks when I could see the north slope of the Santa Ana River drainage was completely burned. Once I got past the footbridge at Camp Tahquitz that crosses over the highway there was nothing but nice, clean, green forest.

Unplanned change of schedule for us so we won't be making this year's Mountain event. Hopefully someone was waitlisted and might be allowed in. Wish you all instead a very wonderful time together as we are sure it will be a great time. See you all in the desert soon.

OK folks, we do have a couple late cancellations so there’s some room if you’d like to attend. Send me a private message if you want to jump onboard!

I am so bummed, but not going to make it this year. Sage my rottweiler has bone cancer now (we lost Atlas the white shepherd to it in August) and she is too painful to make the trip. She gets surgery monday, so hopefully we will be at the next event... as a tripod!
