I managed to get my gps working too, and I've got backcountry navigator (free) programmed with coordinates in my phone, and I'm gonna have Woody drive in with me for safety sake, because there is safety in numbers :)

We are making a small change to the event location - we will be north of the RR trestle before the moon dust. This is to keep camp a bit closer to the area that needs cleaned up and a better location for a group this size - big and flat.

I was there today but the coordinates I took are corrupt. Suffice it to say that the current coordinates posted are a couple miles too far southeast along the RR tracks (Fish Creek Wash by the RR trestle). This is NOT where we are holding the event this time.

We will be camped a few miles NORTHWEST of the coords posted for the previous site:

From the NORTH: take 78 to Split Mountain Road. Follow this to the RR tracks and turn left. Drive about 10-15 minutes past the end of the pavement and you will see the group on the left in a very large flat spot there.

From the SOUTH take the 8 to S80 to Plaster City, follow the narrow gauge RR tracks north out of Plaster City to the RR trestle - KEEP GOING and you will reach the group camped on the right.

We're a hardy bunch here at AAV so I expect everyone to figure it out - if you run along those RR tracks you'll see Roof Top Tent City - you have arrived

Is anyone heading in late Friday around midnight? I'm on the fence of whether or not I want to leave right after work on Friday, or just wake up extremely early and arrive Saturday morning.

What you really should do, is take a personal day on Friday so you can be out right at noon on friday.... :)

If only I can do that... it typically ends up as me leaving right after work. Might be flying solo again as the girlfriend works late nights :( but I hope that ends soon as she's been missing out big time!

I feel ya. the AAV events are the only days that I'll take PTO days on Friday for to get out there right at noon (or earlier), to maximize my camp time.. Of course, with budgets the way they are, I really only get to go on a few trips a year, so I make sure I hit all the AAV events first and foremost, then if the budget allows, I'll do other events, or trips.

That's a good way of prioritizing events. It's tough to fit every trip into the books, balance the budget at the same time, and keeping work happy enough to keep you around. As is life.

Thank you for your support Scott, this statement really validates the community concept we've been trying to promote here.

I'm on the same thought as you , Fri by Midnight or Sat morning real early

No problem Dave. If I haven't made it clear, I view this place as my home, and I've met a bunch of people I would consider lifelong friends because of this site. I will support in any and all ways possible. I may not have the coolest gear, nicest rig, or get to go out every weekend camping, but I feel like I'm part of a big family here, and I love it.

SUBTLE HINT

Less than a week away and I have not heard any talk of trail runs. Anybody want to get something going. Feel free to start a thread and lead a trail run.

I am up to a full sized frendly trip up oil well wash to the Artesian Well and the Gas Domes.

Sounds like a volunteer trail leader to me. ;) Would you mind starting up a new thread to get the details worked out.

Who else wants to lead a trail

Not sure if there are any organized runs planned, but I have been wanting to head out to the west end of Fish Creek Wash (Hapaha Flat). I can lead a group out there Saturday morning if anyone is interested. May take a half to full day though depending on stops.
