I noticed on FB that someone might be carousing about the Big Easy. I hope you guys had some Shrimp Gumbo down there.

Nobody enjoyed a family Easter Dinner?

IMAG0235.jpg

Counter-clockwise from the bottom, roasted spring vegetable on baby spinach with red wine vinegar dressing, roasted Cajun mustard and root beer glazed ham, Jezebell sauce, sauteed Green beans with bacon and ham, Southern ambrosia, ham au jus, and the new comer and surprise hit to the table - Crawfish Casserole (reminiscent of Crawfish Etoufee). Not pictured was the desert - Blueberry Bread Pudding with Amaretto Cream Sauce.

Crawfish Casserole (reminiscent of Crawfish Etoufee)..
This I'd love to try!

Today it's more like what are you cooking right now? Due to a power outage we are roughing it. I've got a meatloaf in the oven and leftover mashed potatoes waiting for the loaf to finish.

That looks fantastic. I am curious about the Jezebell Sauce, I think I dated her sister in high school. Expect me at your tent 'round dinner time at ARV.

looks like a fart waiting to happen. Mmmm farts:D

There were some open windows that evening. :)

Roughing it? I'll make sure to stop by your trailer too.

When the weather gets cold my Wife likes to breakout an old family recipe for Dutch Noodles that she gets to make from scratch. It makes a cold grey day a little warmer.

The next time she makes the Dutch Noodles I'll do a step by step. The original recipe is very old and vague with the measurements, so she has been fine tuning it for the last couple of years.

10 pages is a lot of awesome food info. I'm going to have to go back through here and take notes! I've got an segment on the podcast that I call Outdoor Edibles and I'm going to start pulling from this thread for some ideas.

3 pages in,...

I had a feeling it was a bad idea to look at this thread.

Now I'm hungry. :D

ETA: I cooked up some yummy cereal for dinner.

This isn't actually me in this picture, but is a fair representation of my culinary prowess,

I'll dig it up in the next couple days - I've got a hankering for it since I saw it again.

No picture of the desert since this forum has plenty of desert pictures, however, the dessert was in the oven... imagine bread pudding with dark blue dots and a creamy topping. Yeah - that's it - you got it now. :D

This weekend I tried out a new recipe for a future camping trip. It's orange chicken with chipotle chilis in adobo sauce. I suppose it should be called citrus chicken so that it's not mistaken for some Chinese fast food copy cat. This is a Mexican dish and it is a little spicy. My busy said that it has him pooping napalm... But don't let that scare you off! It's delicious with some Spanish rice, cheese on a tortilla. Nom nom nom

Cast Iron Orange Chicken in HD: the video is about 5 min long
