Can I get some Intel on that pink bike? My wife likes to ride and has been looking for something like that.

It's a 2008 Gary Fisher Hifi Deluxe and the specs are in the link.

We found this one on consignment at the local Trek Superstore and it was a perfect fit. She had been riding a Specialized 29" Myka, size 17.5, and combined with the wagon wheels it was just too big. The Fisher is a 15.5" frame on 26" wheels, a much better fit and responsive ride all around.

From a recent trip to Tahoe, good riding up there, trails, jumps, downhill.

Nice picture...is that from a pump track?

We just visited Lake Tahoe and checked out Over The Edge Bikes in South Lake.

Nice shop, established in a cool little area tucked away off the main drag in a residential area. Sam, the counter-tech/salesperson was extremely helpful with local knowledge, and even offered their shuttle service to some of the local ups and downs. $10, and runs every hour on the hour.

Thank you, yes there was a pump track, dual slalom and some other fun runs, this was in Truckee it was a really cool community park sponsored by some local shops, bike companies etc.

Seeing how I like 29+ bikes I'm looking to get the Salsa Deadwood so this Spearfish is up for grabs at two price points. One is with stock wheels and the other is with carbon wheels. Pm me if you are interested.

Trip to Colorado complete...working up the words and courage to add to the CO state guide...but here's a few cell phone snaps from just outside Cortez, Colorado at The Phil's World Trail area.

We rode this trail system three days, and each day the parking lot had some nice vehicles in attendance...with a bevy of out of state plate visitors. We saw Alaska, Utah, Missouri, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, New York, and of course, California.

Nice Gen 1 Tacoma with Colorado plates...

IMG_6156.JPG

Gen 2 Tacoma with a sweet 4 bike Thule T2 hitch mount set up...

IMG_6155.JPG

The parking area also featured a covered area complete with picnic table and workstation...fast becoming a standard at most well traveled trail heads...

IMG_6050.JPG

Across the dirt road from the parking area was the offical TH:

IMG_6072.JPG

Donation/rider fee box. $3.00 per rider/per day, or kick in $20 for an annual membership with the Kokopelli Bike Club. These trails were pristine, well maintained, AND crossed several parcels of private property (including the local gun club...cool), a fine example of what can be done with public/private lands and a commitment to stewardship.

IMG_6071.JPG

The trails were just about perfect, short uphill technical sections followed by perfectly groomed singletrack...here my wife is exiting the infamous Rib Cage section...

IMG_6193.JPG

The trails inside Phil's World were well marked at all trail intersections, and the best part was all trails were run "one way" to eliminate blind corner and uphill/downhill mishaps of direction...again, a very well planned riding area.

This made riding very comfortable from safety standpoint, no collison concerns if you pulled off to soak in a view or take a long slug of water...

IMG_6157.JPG

Each day we rode about 2.5 hours (with stops for photos, etc.) and about 8-12 miles, although you could link all of the loops and complete a 26 mile epic if you chose. We saw riders of all fitness levels here, from guys/gals with 6 pack abs to guys more like your author who carry an 18 pack...of IPA...to the mid-section.

A few technical sections thrown in between the swooping and well bermed single track that kept you honest, and a couple of good sweat equity climbs that made your knees scream, but nothing terribly double black diamond/ER visit worthy.

There were generous doses of slickrock mixed into the buff singletrack as well...and evidence of some critter activity...

IMG_6178.JPG

But the views...

IMG_6170.JPG

IMG_6187.JPG

Well worth the $3 price of admission.

We also took a side trip into Telluride, CO, and discovered a very vibrant bike culture in town, but I'm going to save most of those pics for my CO state report...just a little Surly teaser here...

IMG_6117.JPG

In conclusion, I couldn't recommend a riding area very much more, as Phil's World delivered on all of our expectations.

Even riding at a lung expanding 6,200' each day wasn't terrible, with a 10,500 visit to Telluride thrown in for good measure.

Whether you are passing through with your MTB's, or plan for an extended visit to Cortez, CO., you will absolutely depart with sore legs and a huge smile on your face.

New bike in the stable and it's like my current bikes had a baby. This is my Spearfish and Krampus in one bike and it gets it first ride in the morning.

Used to be a Cat2 road racer and a Cat3 track racer. Did a couple of seasons of XC racing. Now, I just ride.

This is my latest ride, cannondale superx in carbon fiber! Big change from a mountain bike but I need some more steady excercise! Should be fun on forest roads with these relatively fat and knobby tires!

I ride my cross bike more than any other bike I have, and I have a bunch. I explore on it, commute on it, and in the fall I race it. Fantastic bike.
