If you've never watched the Clone Wars or Star Wars Rebels, I highly recommend both. The first is a bit cartoony at times, and other times pretty dark and adult. Rebels season 1 is pretty cartoony. Season 2 can be as well. Season 3 & 4 will demonstrate why Dave Filoni who worked with Lucas on Clone Wars probably deserves to replace Kathleen Kennedy as head of the whole franchise. The cartoon actually ends up being better than both TFA and TLJ.
