The Random Thoughts Thread

HOKEY air scoop? Some very well trained, well paid engineers put those scoops there because, well, because you NEED them!

Either that, or because their pointy haired boss told them to . . .

I think they manage airflow around the front wheel wells.

Until they fill up with slush and freeze.

^^^^They have holes on both ends, if that is what you're asking. The air isn't directed at anything though, just goes around the leading edge of the front fender to the fenderwell. It's not like they are used for brake cooling or anything.

Reading up on this. They manage the airflow around the front wheel wells. The new design is suppose to be 7% more efficient with regards to reducing drag.

Yep, the wheel wells create a low pressure area which creates drag. The vents allow the pressure to equalize (somewhat) and reduce the aerodynamic drag.

I hope they get things back on track.

***Pelfreybilt Information Release***

The leadership and advisors of Pelfreybilt are in active discussions with potential investors to secure funding for the near future to continue business operations. Our intention is to "right the ship" within the next 45 days and begin taking new contracts to build cash flow; however, these plans are entirely contingent on the outcome of these discussions. We will release another statement after the Labor Day weekend when we have a clearer picture of the negotiations.

Thank you for your patience.

Saw that post on a couple of social media sites. Sounds like a bad time to be waiting on a already committed order. Best of luck to all involved, as Pelfry does make a good product.

Football season is here.

But the NFL is dead to me. Another year of zero interest in these unpatriotic, overpaid, self absorbed entertainers. At some point, the fans ain’t coming back.

Good job NFL, you’ve ruined a once great American pastime by allowing divisive political BS on the field.

Thought you were a Lions fan? The NFL's been dead for some time if you were :D
As a Cleveland, I can appreciate this comment. :)

An Anecdote: A few years ago, Deb and I walked into a Quonset hut bar somewhere in Wyoming. It was us, a tough looking barmaid, and six hard looking, real working cowboys. It was a Monday, and they were all sitting at the watching Monday Night Football. In our shorts, sneakers, and untanned faces, we were obviously not locals. They all turned and looked at us, weighed us, and dismissed us as not worthy of any more interest.

After ordering (the local draft; nothing craft or froofy), the barmaid asked where we were from, and who we rooted for. I said "Cleveland, Ohio: we don't have any sports teams there." This was a time when the Browns were last (their seemingly permanent spot), the Cavaliers were nearly last, and the Indians choked yet again. This brought a chuckle down the row, and broke the ice.

If I watch any football any more, it is college ball.

Agreed and Nike just piled on it with it's new ad. If this pic is 'too political' please feel free to remove it. I personally hope my local range offers free lane time DURING NFL games again this season.

FWIW, I don't think it should be removed.

While I believe our United States Constitution allows for the freedom of expression and peaceful assembly and demonstration, I frankly couldn't be more offended by that advertisement - and it takes a lot to offend me.

That meme, above all that I've seen, demonstrates the offensiveness of Nike's disingenuous message.

My work shirts are Nike golf style shirts. I'm going to try to remove the embroidered "swoosh" from them. If nothing else I'll get an American Flag pin to put over the top of the swoosh.
Excellent - put an American flag pin over them. Take a picture. Send it to Nike marketing and CEO. That should send the socially elite marketing department over the edge.

I'm not a service member, just an army brat, but I've heard my share of ultimate sacrifice talks as I support the 5th Marines at Camp Pendelton thru an annual golf tournament there. I've met a LOT of great Marines thru that event and have a great deal of respect for each and every one of them. I was astonished that Nike used that phrase period...even more so with the jerk they used it with. Any of us mortals would have been fired from our job for pulling a similar stunt like that.

The thing that REALLY irks me about the whole Kaperdink issue is he didn't even take the time to vote in the 2016 elections. I forget the exact numbers now but there were 3 or 4
"justice" related propositions on the CA ballot where he could have "voiced his opinion".

What Kaperdink had to say...

"You know, I think it would be hypocritical of me to vote," Kaepernick told reporters. "I said from the beginning I was against oppression, I was against the system of oppression. I'm not going to show support for that system. And to me, the oppressor isn't going to allow you to vote your way out of your oppression."

....from this source...https://www.cnn.com/2016/11/14/sport/49ers-qb-colin-kaepernick-explains-why-he-didnt-vote/index.html

Wow, just wow! Even worse than my wife's voting a third candidate that has no chance of victory because she can't stand voting for either candidate with a chance of victory. Me...I'd a least vote for one of the two with a chance instead of just throwing my vote away. At least I've made my vote 'count' perhaps a little more than just a throw away protest vote. I think she's voted in this manner in the last several presidential elections! Kaepernick's logic is just plain dumb. You have a voice/vote, at least use it in the forum we all have to be 'heard'.
