Wonder what that sign will look like in two months, for the exact same reasons checked off.

^^^^One way to put it...I had my second post turning 50 physical today. (okay, so I was a couple of years late, they have me on the every 5 years plan apparently.)

Vehicle title and licensure in this country is a damn joke. What a bureaucratic racket. Doesn't matter what state you are in, the DMV is a cesspool of inefficiency.

From DMV.com:

The Best and Worst DMVs in America

Satisfaction%20Table.png

*Insufficient data for Alaska, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming

I bet it was "insufficient data" because the authors of this article were waiting in line for their number to be called, the internet web site kept crashing or "error code 404", or the operator placed them on hold for a lengthy amount of time. :D

Seriously. The entire process for vehicle title and licensing could and should be automated.

Like McDonalds. A kiosk at most.

Or better yet, entirely online.

Paper might as well be stone tablets today.

In the unnamed mountain state Im familiar with, the counties deal with vehicle plates and registrations for the state. Walk in the county courthouse door, give them old title, they tell you to go down the hall to the assessor, they make sure youve paid the state tax, then OK the title transfer, which they print out on the spot and hand to you, you then walk back to the assessors office and get your plates. In and out, all done, plates and title in hand in 20-30 minutes generally. Ive had to wait behind 2 or 3 people once or twice, usually 1 or none ahead when I walked in.

Talking to friends in other places, you may get your title mailed to you in a couple months, waiting at DMV offices, take a number, wait, go to another window, wait again, nobody knows anything some of the time, wait somewhere else,.....

Here in NY, the County Clerks handle this for the the DMV. They actually ENCOURAGE you to use their facility as opposed to mailing stuff to the state DMV. Turns out the state has to pay them for what they do, so they WANT my business.

They seem to be a bit late with the April fools this year... right?

I would be willing to bet that Hyundai, Honda and others own the segment of the market the Fiesta, Focus and Fusion live in. Ford's small suvs get similar fuel economy and offer more space so why not cut out those car models. I've read somewhere that GM is not far behind with chopping most of their car line as well.
