NEW MEMBER INTRODUCTIONS!

Now you have no excuse to miss events on either side of the country :D. How is it living in the middle BTW?

Super. If it weren't for the 4-6 hr drives to get away from urban sprawl and into the woods.

As for missing events on the coasts, it's only about 2000 miles and 30 hrs to CA, and 850 miles and 13 hrs to NC...

I've been to more American Adventurist events in California that I have on the East Coast. o_O I really need to change that...there must be some SE members that would be up for monthly meet and greets/eats....

Did you just volunteer to set up a meet and greet?

Greetings. Just started to get into this whole overlanding thing recently. Did attend the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Festival, with my wife, this year near State College, PA and had a great time. Can't wait to attend the Appalachian Rendezvous this year. Have a stock 2016 4Runner Trail and a stock 2017 JK Sport.

I guess that's what I was getting at now that you mention it (called me out on it) :D. Post ARV I'll see what I can put together. There just don't seem to be the concentrations of members here that there are in SoCal.

more gatherings will bring higher concentrations, the old "Build it and they will come"

Thanks for stepping up to do this

120 RSVP's for ARV is a good indicator that someone is there ;)

my name is Don, new to the forum. Currently building a new trailer, like to hunt, fish trap & camp.

Welcome Don!

Howdy,
Edwin Here from so-cal. Proud owner of a 2002 Nissan Xterra XE. Recently purchase my new project about 2 months ago. Completely stock for now. Just taking care of maintenance services that were neglected. Til I have everything in tip top shape, will start getting prepped for overlanding (new trend lulz). Hopefully I get to share my experiences to teach new peeps and learn from much more experienced adventurers.

See you guys out there. Cheers!!!:viking

Hi guys,

More of a re-introduction, as I was on here a couple of years ago, and for some reason that I can't remember, stopped visiting. I came across my bookmark for the site, and here I am again. Here was my original introduction thread: #1487 and my previous discussions:
Build thread: Steve & Deb prep a 2008 Subaru Outback for cross-country traveling
Trip thread: Steve & Deb's travels across the USA in a Subaru Outback (Sep-Oct 2015)

Lots has changed in the intervening time. The Subaru is gone, and a 4Runner has replaced it. Just a couple of weeks ago we picked up our Hiker trailer. We opted for the non-off road version to save money, and to see how Deb does camping again.

Since my last post, we wandered around Florida for a month, and two more trips to drop our daughter off at college in Seattle and spending 4-5 weeks each time to meander our way back. We've visited (and revisited) some beautiful places, and I can't wait to go again! Deb is an avid gardener, though, and doesn't like leaving home as often as I'd like, or for as long. This latest trip we left with lots of veggies just getting ready to pick. The neighbors (and critters) enjoyed the bounty, though. Lots of photos of the trips on Instagram or Facebook if you're curious. Links in my sig.

I notice that several of my previously posted photos have broken links. I didn't know at the time that photos linked to Facebook expire after a certain period of time. Lessons learned...

I also see more faces around here that I know from other venues. Hi guys! ::waves::

Here are a couple obligatory vehicle photos:

2016 Toyota 4Runner Trail Premium, minor mods, mostly for convenience and comfort.

I'll stick around this time, and hopefully learn a lot from y'all.
Steve

well, I been here for a few weeks enjoying the forum. I figure it would be proper to introduce myself. My name is Don, I live for the outdoors, camp, hunt, fish, trap. I own a business in the firearm re-finishing industry for 15 plus yrs put custom finishes on firearms. I have a fancy for custom built rifles, especially military sporters. I reload my own ammo, & currently building a expedition camping trailer. Looking forward to running into a few of you.
