Frankie the Adventure Dawg's Reports

Happy Belated Fourth of July!

Well, with fires, 100+ degrees and cold beer on hand, Garrett took me to the beach so I could dig holes, play in waves and knock over some stupid kid's sand castle (and then peed on it). Good times!

Woof! We had an awesome time on the #SolarRendezvous in August! We started off by meeting Bob and Machelle in Lone Pine, CA. We drove around the Alabama Hills and took the back way out. We cruised to Bishop, CA for some supplies and then we camped out near South Lake. We thought we could just camp anywhere out there, but it turns out that unless you're hiking in, you can't park and camp. We did manage to find a spot next to a stream which made any road noise unnoticeable. Garrett went fishing and I went bonkers when this flapping creature came out on his line! I LOVE FISHING!

That night, we went exploring the roads while the Milky Way blew us away!

The next day, we cruised out and went up past Mammoth Lakes to Mono Lake. We saw the tufas, hiked an old volcanic crater - hey, @bob91yj , let me know if you ever want to go on a "short, quick hike with Garrett" again! We ate lunch at Bodie Mike's and I scared a French tourist family. I guess they didn't like dogs on the patio or something. Another little French girl absolutely loved me, though. She gave me French fries. Is that ironic? After that, we went and camped at Lake Trumbull. We swam, fished and jumped from rocks!

The next day, we decided to take the long way out! We decided it would be better to be comfortable on the ride and Garrett showed me some love.

We visited Bodie Ghost Town! What a cool place! I love peeing on history.

After Bodie, we had worked up quite an appetite. We had, quite possibly, the best Eastern Sierra cheeseburger at Walker Burger. Look it up if you're near Mono Lake. There was a couple that drove down from Lake Tahoe just to get lunch there.

After burgers, we slabbed our way out to South Lake Tahoe. We camped at Fallen Leaf Lake Campground. It was away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We even saw a BEAR! After Tahoe, we headed for Nevada. Our plan was to camp at Soldier Meadows Hot Spring, but it was super hot AND at lunch we discovered it was still a 6 hour drive! We rerouted after a few humms and haws and ended up at Steens Mountain in Eastern Oregon just in time for the most epic sunset you can imagine!

We cruised around in the dark for another 9 miles and came across Fish Lake Campground on Steens Mountain. What an epic place! We had lakeside accommodations!

We explored the Kygar Gorge and everything!

The next day, we decided to head further east to just before Boise, ID. We cruised all kinds of miles of backroads to find Cow Lake Campground.

Unfortunately, Cow Lake Campground was just that. It was a flat, brown lake surrounded by cows. I couldn't even have fun because there were prickly thorns all over the ground. @bob91yj and Garrett decided that if the dogs couldn't run around, we might as well check out the second campsite we had picked out randomly on a map. This led us to Birch Creek Historic Ranch. It is one of the most amazing camp spots I've ever been to!

Garrett and I even floated about a quarter mile down stream from a boat launch back to camp. How FUN! @bob91yj and Machelle were just relaxing hardcore with Penny and Mac.

The next day, we cruised to Boise, Idaho. We actually had a hotel room, so not much to report. We waited for more arrivals to show up until 3am! Tyler, Quinn and Brittni all flew in from Los Angeles! The next day, we headed out to Deadwood Reservoir to find our friend @100acre who had reserved some sites for us. What a great place to camp! We relaxed, fished, jumped in the reservoir, saw the eclipse and had an amazing time!

We flew back to Los Angeles two days later. I flew home in a dog crate, of which I am not a fan. All in all, it was the best trip I've ever been on! I've now peed on four states!

So, it turns out, Uncle Tyler was gifted a free boat. Just know there is no such thing as a free boat. A few thousand dollars later, I got invited on to this magical water crossing contraption! While I'm not a fan of it when we're motoring, I'm fine when we're hanging out!

We've been busy! I got to go to the Baja 1000 and see the loud trucks and eat mucho tacos!

Last weekend, human did good. He took me to the mountains so that I could pick out the PERFECT tree for him to keep inside so I can pee on it. I mean, he's kinda dumb for doing that, but I won't complain about a new pee tree! He does this once a year. He should do it more often!

Well, Christmas came and went. If you didn't know, my gotcha day (birthday) was December 1! So please give me treats. I got a big bone from human and lots of treats.

For New Year's, we cruised up to Sequoia National Forest with friends. What a good time! I got to run with Bentley, Dixie and @Andy 's new puppy, Twiggy.

That's it...that's all you have? Surely your humans did something worth telling us about over New Years!

Woof! Nothing extravagant happened, actually! We drove up super late on Friday pulling a 32 foot travel trailer which was a little heavy. He ripped off the water dump valve on the way out of the rental place so we had bottled water for the weekend. Then, on the little dirt road to the dispersed camping area, we pulled down a few branches because it was a tall trailer! One highlight was running after human while he rode his dirtbike. He's so slow that I was able to outrun him! We did walks, we cruised through the giant sequoia grove where I peed on some of the biggest trees ever!
For the most part, it was a relaxing weekend of hanging around camp and chatting with friends.
