Andy

I'll take the ammo can and the NVG case!

@RoamingRobertsons and @JunglistFJ - I'm swamped with work and won't be able to make it out, so I'm sending the goods out with @dr1665. He'll be camped in the white Adventurist Life Montero, and no doubt running around interviewing folks so should be easy to find. :)

I trust him with the cash, or if you prefer we can do PayPal...your call.

Smittybilt Element Ramps - Almost free* to a needy home**

smittybilt_2504.jpg

I bought these as an inexpensive way to fill a gap for recovery ramps. But the reviews on these do not inspire great confidence, especially for people with heavier rigs. Some have clearly been abused (lots of photos of melted spikes from people spinning tires on them), but I've seen a few examples of broken ramps too. I have never had to use them, I've literally gotten more use out of the cardboard box they came in when I cut it up for templates for brackets. My opinion, based on what I've read, is that the construction and material just isn't up to par with Maxtrax or the new redesigned TRED product (which I have finally received from my Kickstarter pledge lo those many months ago.)

Since these are now "surplus to requirements", I want 'em out of the garage. That said, I feel sketchy about selling something that could fail on someone else. So here's the deal: I will trade these for a cold six pack of mexican beer (your choice), but only to a user with a relatively lightweight rig and for whom these would literally be "better than nothing". If you can afford good gear, go buy it. If you're seriously strapped for cash and you're running a Subaru or something without recovery ramps and would rather have these than nothing, find me with a sixer of Corona or Negro Modelo or something.

I could really use these. If Cris doesn't want them, I will gladly put them to work. This one time in Baja.....

Dave, come find me and we'll talk at Rendezvous, but I have serious reservations about how these will perform under something as heavy as an LC80

OK, I have another item I'm looking to sell, but this one is a doozy to haul, so I'll probably only bring it if I have a firm buyer. Will also be for sale going forward and can be picked up in San Diego.

Dimensions:
Case:
97" long x 5.5" high x 3" deep

Deployed Awning Fabric:
80" deep x 86" wide

This is a hard-case spring-retracting awning in the style of a Fiamma, etc. All aluminum construction. The legs are extra long and can go to ground or into body-mounted clips for a totally "self-contained" deployment:
IMG00346.jpg

(photo from the donor van I originally inherited this from)

This awning is probably 20 years old, hence the deeply discounted price (compare to a new Fiamma in this size would be over $800). Despite the age, the fabric is in excellent condition. It would also be easy to replace, when the time comes, since the awning uses standard "rope grooves" and the rigid frame will hold it open against the roller-spring. I am including the body clips for the legs (harvested from donor but never mounted to my new van), but no mounting brackets (the GTRV-specific brackets shaped to fit under the pop-top re-used for my new awning).

This is a solid workhorse awning with a generous shade patch (deeper than all but the newest extra-long ARB awnings). We used this every time we went out, but this summer switched to an ARB awning because the wife demanded a bug-screen room and the ARB "system" fit the bill.

Known issues:
  • Technically this awning is one-person deployable, with practice, but two makes it much easier to manage the legs, etc.
  • Case originally included a spring latch in the middle but it was bent by previous owner and interfered with van slider door, so it's been removed. Clip-and-spring tension keeps the case closed just fine, but I've typically put a velcro-wrap around the case just to ensure it doesn't come open on trail.
  • Installation will require 2-people minimum, you must deploy the awning "flat" in order to access the inside of the case to fit fasteners to your brackets:

I may take one or both of those pelican 1650, but I can't see the pics on my phone. Will check when I get in front of a PC.

^^^^Your links take me to another AAV page, with an error message and I don't have permission to view the page. I'm too stupid to know how to do the screen picture thing to show it to you.

Links? I loaded pictures into the AA media gallery and then placed them in the listing. How are others adding pictures to their posts? I can't do any more trouble shooting from my end since all 7 of the devices I have to check with all show the pictures fine. I'm stuck!
