winter coming

Winter you say? Wonderful 79 in SoCal today. I do really feel for the awesome effort firefighters are putting in on all the fires. I think The biggest, the Thomas fire in Ventura is now over 230,000 acres making it the fifth largest in CA history. Hey Canada, please send down your super scoopers!!!

First real snow of the year, about two months late...

I’m just wondering if @Haggis has dug out of the house yet. Erie, PA was reported to have set a record with 53” of snow over two days.

No digging for us, snow has been staying up along the lake shore. It is damn cold though, I'm getting tired of working out in the cold all day I'll tell you that.

You’re just burning off those holiday calories, stay warm!

Ugh, the place I'm working at is a ackbassward hole, no heat, no breakroom, no place to get warm except for starting up your truck. I tired of these single digits already and being cold all day.

It's been down around zero, maybe a few degrees lower here in upstate NY for several days. My local TV station showed a short clip shot on top of Mount Washington. Temperature -30, Wind Chill, - 80. Guy took a pot of BOILING water outside and poured it out and it all froze and turned to snow before it could hit the ground.

I just found it on Youtube, here you go:

Brrr... (actual temps about 5 degrees... the thermometer caught up after I snapped the pic)

A frosty 9 degrees this morning at sunrise here in NC. We get single digits from time to time, but not often. Maybe a dozen times over the 28 years I have lived here. Cold.

Unfortunately for us Californians, it was another beautiful Tournament of Roses day weather here in SoCal. Sunny and warm...while the rest of the country is in a deep freeze! Stay safe and warm and be wary of frostbite!

Rose Bowl weather is a running joke with the wife as she's a seventh generation native. She hates it when television pans out over the Arroyo out in Pasadena showing all it's beauty and grandeur. She's deathly afraid more people will see the weather and want to move here.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago’s bitter cold temperatures reached a New Year’s Day record Monday 1/1/2018, continuing a relentlessly dangerous stretch of cold air over the past week.

The city reached a high of 1 degree, marking a new record for the coldest high temperature on the first day of the year, according to the National Weather Service.

The previous record was 5 degrees in 1969.

The average temperature of -4 degrees was also the coldest average for Jan. 1 in Chicago, lower than the -2.5 degree mark set in 1969, the Weather Service said.

The low temperature Monday was -9 degrees...

It was below 0 in Albany NY this morning. The Albany station helpfully reported that it was +7 degrees in Fairbanks, AK, meaning that it's colder down here right now than it is in central Alaska.

You only have your wife to blame for this. Nori moving to the upper Midwest has upset the natural balance of things. It can only get worse from here. Please execute PCSO soon... :D
