Which tire are you using?

We aren't extreme off roaders by any means, we may not even count as 'off-roaders' lol, but we do like to be able to drive in the sand, like the Texas beach, take the dirt trails (ahem, roads?) like in Death Valley and mountain trails like in Jasper Alberta to get to the 'awesome'. We have serious tire envy going on right now, because we currently have on highway all season tires because we were doing a lot of highway driving. However we didn't trust them to go do the back trails we like to do, and now that they are showing their wear we are happy to bid them farewell!

In general, AT's will work better in deep sand and snow than MT's will. AT's tend to float on top whereas the MT's dig.

I run the most aggressive tire available on my rock Jeep (Interco TSL/SX), but have found that AT's have yet to let me down on the '05 Wrangler, or my Dmax/camper.

Cooper Discoverer AT3

I will continue to buy this tire until forever.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the KM2 255/85/16. I can't comment on road wear just yet but offroad; oh my! If they wear anywhere near what people say about them I'll have my fingers crossed BFG doesn't pull the 255 from their line up.

The KM2 is a great tire sans the wear. I have to say, though, I'm thoroughly impressed with the new KO2 thus far. After installing it on our 100 Series family overlander build back in early February, it has done absolutely fantastic. Look for a long-term review in 2016.

Also look for some editorial from us on Falken's new mud terrain. Word is it's a fantastic option as well.

I use the General Grabber AT2 and I've had some really great luck with them. They aren't too heavy, they're pretty tough, and I like the traction from them. Price is right too. I'll probably be going to the ST Maxx for my next tire though. They are the tallest non-MT 265/75 I can find. But if I decide to go to 285s, I'll stick with the Generals.

I am using the Nitto Terra Grapplers 265/70/17. They are soft and sticky to rocks which allows me extreme grip while in the rock gardens.

That is a VERY sweet truck you've got there. :)

Has anyone tried the new Nitto Terra Grappler G2 yet? We'll be testing them soon and curious if anyone has had any good, real-world experience with them yet.

We just put a set of the new BFG AT KO2s on the Tacoma. Instantly recognizable tread pattern, much more aggressive sidewall. I'm looking forward to seeing what they've improved.

Keep us posted, I'd like these in 255/85R16 as my next Taco tire :D

BFG say they've reduced the tread chunking that was one of my only complaints about the KOs. Stronger sidewalls, longer tread life. Sounds promising.
