Watches!

Oh God, I can hear those Timex's ticking from behind my screen!

I bought one of the Timex expedition watches as my beater/camp watch, but I've had to switch back to one of my automatics just because the tick keeps me up at night.

From across the room.
Inside a box.

(Seriously, I was keeping it in my watch case on the dresser and I could still hear it ticking.) In my van or in a tent, it'd ridiculous.

My Timex is the same way! Drives me nuts. I can only assume they over-engineered the calibre.

So one of my friends wants to trade one of my rifles for this thing.

It's an omega submariner. Full automatic.

Could never bring myself to part with a rifle for a watch. Unless the watch also has a built in rifle, a complication I've never seen.

Luminox 1881.BO. Tritium is awesome.

Timex Expedition: Yes, the movement is extremely loud, but its the work/beater unit.

Wenger Swiss Military: First watch 11 years ago.

Haha. Well... it's a rifle I haven't shot in over a year. I won't miss it very much and I would rather have something I can wear on a daily basis.

I have a Citizen for work and love it, so I just ordered one of these for the field...........

I have a titanium Citizen Eco-Drive that I LOVE, but only wear when I need to dress up. This one is a nice all purpose, and not nearly as expensive as the titanium one. Might pick up one of these.

My thoughts exactly.....good price for a good looking piece.

I picked this Seiko 5 up on ebay. Including shipping from India it was about $50. Self-winding, keeps pretty good time.

Wow, guys have some beautiful time pieces! All I have are a metal case and band Timex, and an all black rubber Timex. Together I think I have a $100 invested in the two. I don't dress well enough for an expensive piece, and due to work I need something that can get beat up and have it not matter if I get blood or whatever on it. I do have a strong lust for a Suunto Core!

Funny story as to why I bought the black one with rubber case and band. I had been sent to a call for the vomiting blood. Turns out the guy was drunk at the block party going on, fell and bit his tounge, no big deal. While walking him out to the truck, people were screaming and yelling, nothing new at a block party in the hood. Well they were trying to get my attention as a woman went into labor. Long story short, I delivered the baby on the sidewalk. Even with the proper PPE I still got covered with amniotic fluid, and so did my watch. I couldn't get the smell out of it, no matter what I tried. I bought the black one to wear at work and put the metal one in the dishwasher. Thankfully that worked, but I haven't worn the metal one since.

You'll like this watch. I have the same model with the grey face and orange inner dial. It wears really nicely on my not-so-big wrists. The lume is pretty good too... lasts into twilight if I've been around a lantern before bed or wearing it indoors.

You might need to replace the strap though... smell it after a camp trip, or even a day of work. I have no idea what the liner is made from, but it sure isn't leather and it sure doesn't wick away moisture!

You can see a photo of mine earlier in the thread with a green leather band from Hirsch.

Awesome, I was hoping it wasn't too big.
