Watches!

I wasnt sure where to post this so if its in the wrong section please feel free to move it.

how many people love watches? I know i do. I was curious to see what you guys were running and what you didnt like.

All the ones on top and the bottom left are Citizen watches except for the all black one. they have never given me any problems but kind of just outgrew them....
the one next to it is a seiko automatic. it was given to me from my mother in law after her husband died. i wouldnt necessarily wear any of those camping or doing any kind of outdoor activity.

now the luminox until recently was my daily wear. i have owned it just over 1 year but has been giving me trouble the last couple of months. and trying to get it warrantied has so far been a big headache.

The suunto core watch was great. my only real complaint is that its hard to see and the battery doesnt last more than a year. afterwards you have to reset everything all over again.. which is the reason its just sitting in the box.

the one currently on my wrist is my Tag formula one watch.. to be honest i love this watch. it keeps very good time and is very well built. you can def tell a diff between this watch and any of my citizen watches. my only real complaint about this watch is that it is almost impossibly to read at night.

the last watch that is on my go back is a casio pathfinder. what can i say about this watch? its a great outdoor watch and the one i wear if im doing anykind of hiking or camping. its solor powered so no need to worry about batteries. only complaint is that the temp readings are not very accurate.

I'm a Watch fiend too. I have eight or nine watches currently, though some are heirlooms or similar pieces I never wear.

Here's my current collection:

Seiko 5 SNK809 w/Hadley-Roma strap - My almost always daily wear go-to watch. Bought it as a $60 "beater" but I ended up loving it so much that I refuse to beat on it. Recently accidentally whacked the crystal pretty hard so I may buy another and move this one to "outdoors" duty, but this movement has been well regulated, so I hate to lose it!

Citizen EcoDrive BM8180-03E w/ Blue/Burgundy NATO strap - Good for more casual stuff

Citizen AT0870-29X with original canvas strap - gift from the wife, so I can never get rid of it, but truth be told it's not one I wear very often due to the color

Citizen AT0000-04E "San Remo" Ecodrive w/ Alligator strap (cheap replacement of original style) - The first "decent" watch I ever bought for myself. I've had trouble keeping the battery charged on this one (already changed it once, too!)

Citizen AT0000-12A "San Remo" Ecodrive w/ black Breitling style band (replaced black Alligator grain original) - a slightly fancier looking version of the same watch. Love this one for when I need to look a bit more dressy.

Timex Expedition "Rugged Core" - my current "outdoors" watch for hiking, camping, etc. Only problem is that it ticks WAY too loudly!

My crappiest watch. Bought it for $19 about 20 years ago. I put a fresh battery into it and it keeps working, despite the abuse that I heap on it. I sort of hate it for being such a nasty Daytona clone - the date wheel is impossible to read. But it refuses to die, so...

Obviously these are all relatively inexpensive watches. Someday I'll treat myself to a vintage Omega Seamaster or a Hamilton Jazzmaster, but that's a way off. More likely is that I'll add another Seiko 5 to the mix, probably a Diver. Father's Day is coming...

nice watches.

the Tag is def the most expensive/nicest watch i have bought. i would love to one day own a nice Rolex Submariner but its very hard to justify spending that kind of cash on a watch. it also doesnt help that my father in law collects Rolex's and fine watches. He did give me the suunto core watch :)

I'm a one watch at a time kind of guy, currently sporting a stainless Seiko Chronograph. I'm hard on equipment so I'm reluctant to spend big $$$ on a watch, but don't mind dropping a couple hundy on a decent watch that I know will last me for a while. Thinking a bit, I got my current Seiko from 1saleaday.com for less than $100, probably 5 years or so ago. I'll wear it till it dies/gets destroyed and then get another one.

I can't function without a watch on my wrist, but I think wrist watches in general will soon be a novelty item that younger generations just don't get!

thats exactly how i felt about my luminox until it broke. i expect a watch in that price range to last more than a year before breaking. i have put that watch through hell though. I totally agree about the younger generation. but not wearing a watch is the least of the worries on whats wrong with the younger generation haha

^^^^but maybe it's a start? We have to start somewhere, and being able to tell time by a clock with hands rather than a digital display would be an easy goal!

My daughter (now 29) was an Honor Roll student in high school...the child couldn't glance at a clock with hands and tell you what time it was, she had to look at it and think about it.

I've got two watches I wear, and two I don't. The two I don't are my fathers Paul Breguette, and my grandfathers Hamilton.

The two I do wear...

Citizen Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar. I LOVE this watch, since I'm a titanium freak. I like how I don't have to change the battery, but I don't like having to set it. This watch sees use when I dress up for something, which means the time is right only during one of the time change cycles. If only it were also atomic! :)

My daily watch for work and play, the Casio G-shock Stealth. Solar, Atomic, and TOUGH! Everything I could want in a watch.

If I had that box of watches that you show there Raul, I'd go into a full OCD conniption fit since not even two are set to the same time! :D

I'm with Mitch on the Casio G Shock watch. Takes a lick'n and keeps on tick'n as the old Timex commercial went. Only issue I encounter is occasionally bumping one of the buttons which sets some type of alarm that beeps and drives me nuts till I figure how to turn it off. So I guess I'm admitting it's not idiot proof.

great thread. I LOVE watches. especially automatics. I splurged a few years ago and purchased a Breitling Navitimer Montbrilliant Datora and an Omega Speedmaster. Great time pieces. my newest is a Tissot Seastar. Next up will be a Casio Pathfinder.

I'm a big fan of watches in general. I've worn a watch since the second grade. I bought my current watch, a Seiko Automatic, back in 1985 and have worn it ever since. I do have a 15 year old G-Shock that I wear if I'm paiting, working out, or doing generally gruby work.

I've got a Timex Expedition with a TON of capabilities I paid about $75 for at Wal-Mart a few years ago and it has been absolutely fantastic!

I'm a big fan of the Rolex Submariner, it's probably the last watch I'll ever buy. It's damn near bullet proof, and it's more watch than I'll ever need.

I've always been a watch guy, but I don't have nearly the budget I would need for a lot of the makes and models I drool over. About 6 months back I found a watch that I took on my last deployment... maybe my favorite material possession now.

The only reason I need a watch is so I can get out of the surf in order to make it to work on time. :p

So, mine is a cheap waterproof Casio or the like - Now the one I had that had a tide calculator was sweet :)

No no tan lines Baby!
