The Ultimate Adventure Report

Nice!

Looks like you had good company!

We have been all over the east, except for Georgia and the deeper south. Your pics tell us we need to correct that some day.

That's what appealed to me with the move to TN. New places.

We’re heading down to Tennessee and the Great Smokey NP in April, never been…well I spent 16 weeks in Memphis for the National Hardwood Lumber Association’s lumber inspector school in the late 80s. Never need to see Memphis again.

Spent some time exploring the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests this week. Miles and miles of dirt roads winding through river bottoms and up ridges. Colors were at their peak on the west side of the Cherokee forest while on the eastern side most of the leaves were gone.

Got in a nice hike on Monday and discovered sections of the Brenton McKay Trail that my knees now have zero interest in exploring further. You'd have to be part mountain goat to want to hit some of those ridge crossings.

Got a chance to try the truck out offroad for the first time. Found some things I like and some things I don't. Shared the forest roads with every bear hunter in Tennessee and North Carolina. Every one of them was in a Tacoma.

Overall a good trip.

Just got back from Argentina, and it was hands down one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever taken! I started in Buenos Aires, The energy there is like nothing else, tango dancers performing in the streets, art everywhere you look, and some of the best food I’ve had in my life (if you go, don't miss the empanadas or a classic Argentine steak). Walking through neighborhoods like San Telmo and La Boca felt like stepping into an artist's dream, especially with all the colorful buildings and unique street art.

I also took a day trip to Tigre, a town on the river delta just outside Buenos Aires, which was so peaceful after the city’s hustle. We did a boat ride through the delta, saw some wildlife, and enjoyed the views of these unique little houses on stilts along the riverbanks.

One of the highlights of my trip was a side tour with https://gowithguide.com/argentina I usually like exploring on my own, but booking a local guide through their site gave me a whole new perspective. My guide took me to lesser-known spots around Palermo and showed me some of the city’s coolest hidden cafes and artisan shops. We also explored a couple of markets where I found some beautiful handcrafted souvenirs. They were super knowledgeable about the history and culture, so I felt like I was getting an insider’s view of the city instead of the usual tourist stuff.

All in all, Argentina was everything I’d hoped for and more ❤️

Did a 2 day run up to Virginia to look at a potential 38 acre purchase. Bottom part of the property was pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. No neighbors, no noise and wide open space with a little cabin that's in a state that could be restored. What I wasn't looking for was a tangled mess of property lines and a deed history that's clear as mud going back to 1919. The seller is going to have a hell of a time unloading this property without cleaning up some of the records and providing a clean survey. Still a cool area to explore. Saw no less than 300 whitetail and on 26 just north of Asheville saw 3 dead bear. Rough interstate to cross if you're a bear apparently.

Let me know when you move in so I can come down and give you the Appalachia Starter course.

Neighbor from up the road provided an initiation. Let us know his cousins had murdered the landowner across the street and sent his body out on the train with a shipment of coal. Not that different from folks I grew up with, we just didn't have coal in NE Georgia.
