The Random Thoughts Thread

Took my daughter to the Space Center in Houston today. We touched a rock from Mars and another one from the moon. We walked through the space shuttle Endeavor and the 747 that carried the shuttles back across the country after each mission. Some amazing vehicles. Even the parking lot had cool stuff.

You need to visit the Space Center in Huntsville...

Sitting in a hotel right now next to Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. We'll be at the Space Center in Huntsville tomorrow. :)

Now if I could figure out how to get Kennedy Space Center to fit in between Huntsville and returning the rental car to Hartsfield.

I think if you look at I-65, you can see how everything all fits together!!

At the Space Center in Huntsville, the Saturn V in the building is a real one. After sitting outside and deteriorating for many years, the original rocket was refurbished and put in the new building. The Saturn V standing outside is a life-sized model.

I wanna quit my full time job, live off my military retirement and VA disability, and just LIVE. Travel. Adventure. Camp. Overland. Whatever you wanna call it.

Who's with me?

Okay, I may need a part time job now and then - or maybe not.

You in?
You are way behind me, hombre. :D

Well, at least between fixing the broken stuff on this 'ol Bravo Delta squid. :tango

I'm in! Machelle and I are already prepping for that day...we sold our house to our son last summer, been living in a 38' travel trailer since then.

It was Machelle's idea to sell the house and live in the trailer. It was OK with me, I got 1.5 hours of my life back everyday just in commute time, no real chores around the house so it freed my weekends up a bit as well.

Guess I gotta get a wife that's in...cuz this one isn't! :headbang

It's a HUGE lifestyle change to go mobile. For us the biggest issue was down sizing the junk collection. Go to an RV show and take a look at today's travel trailers, they truly are 1 bedroom condos.

Guess the other thing holding me back is my ex-wife, and our two boys that live with her 60% of the time...9 and 15 years old...sigh.

^^^^That's a bummer. Kudos to you for keeping your kids in your life. Look at it this way, it gives you 9 years or so to prep for the traveling lifestyle!

Not really any choice as far as I'm concerned. I'm exposing them both to all the adventures I can (and so is his mom). Both of them are from Alaska, so they've been exposed to a fair share of adventure and adventure travel.
