Something about those names always seemed familiar, I couldn't place it and never thought to google.. then today, out of nowhere.. I saw this..

pretty cool!

You got it brother. While not all my vehicles have names based on literature I also use to have had a quick candy red Buick Regal T-Type that was named Red Sonya ie of Robert E. Howard’s novels.

Today the Mouser is 8 years old, from wife’s daily ride to my adventure truck. He’ a good truck and the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. 110,000 miles of dead nuts reliability.

My old Tundra rims off Fafhrd are starting to show their age. Yellowing spots and corrosion on the edges are appearing. Thinking about getting them stripped and re-powdercoated, but I need a set of rims to run on the truck while they’re off getting refurbished. Holy crap do people want a ton for a set of used rims these days, even more for ones with the right offsets. Screw it, I went and bought a set of new rims on a half off sale during the holiday. Between that and a discount code I got a set of new rims for the same price or less than what these numbskulls want for their takeoffs.

So the Mouser will be sporting a new Taco Bro look wiith these Fifteen 52 Metrics in 17x8.5” (0 offset). Than these rims will go on Tanner once I get the factory Tundra rims done up. Need to decide if I’m going to stay with the factory silver finish or go with a darker gunmetal tone.

Finally got some time to pull the Mouser out of storage and get all the gear loaded back up. Everything stored well and looks great. Now if it will stop raining, quit being gloomy and chilly we might go out camping. Yuck to wet cold days, I’d rather have snow and chiller weather. I’m ready for Spring…

Man, not much is happening with the camping truck this year. Elderly family health matters are keeping us close to home, so we have decided to forgo any big trips no matter how much we want to go. Instead we have been doing some quick overnights to satisfy the outdoor itch and get out. Also I have pretty much the whole thing dialed, and don’t need to mod anything. So….Tanner? No that Tacoma will stay stock…I mean it…really….

A few pics out and about…

Set up in the field at the farm for that eclipse. The clouds would clear 15 minutes before the event, thank goodness.

Spent last weekend plus a few extra days wandering around the northwest portion of Michigan’s Mitten. From Muskegon to Glen Arbor we mucked around the coastline of Lake Michigan, hiking, driving some forest roads, beaching and enjoying perfect September weather. It was our first time here and we loved it.

The rear bumper started to get the PA rot so the search began for a replacement.

After much himming and hawwing, OEM or aftermarket, swing out or not discussions I settled on a simple aftermarket steel bumper from At The Helm Fabrication. It has a built in hitch receiver and replaces both the factory bumper and hitch. I liked the way it fit over some of the more bulky bumpers on the market . Only comes in bare steel so some prep and paint was in order.

Two coats of primer, 4 coats of satin black and 3 coats of Matte clear for the outside. Inside got the 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of paint and 3 coats of truck bed liner.

As I just got this and the weather is about to turn here I wanted to get in in paint before winter weather hit to avoid it getting rusted up. Might be a bit until I get fair enough weather to get it mounted up but at least it’s painted.

Movin' on up, I see... :p

The HiLift holes are nice. What size lights fit in the other holes?

It’s set up for Rigids but I have the steel filler pieces to delete those. Don’t see any need for additional back up lights.

I like my backup lights.

One of the best uses is being able to check the trailer while driving at night.

It's a easy addition w/out cutting into the harness with one of these.

CURT 56584 jumper harness to a 5 pin (Amazon).

Just unplug the 7-pin from the back of the 4/7-pin receptacle. I had a switch set up in the back of the Tacoma to manually turn them on as use a work lights.
