The Grey Mouser: Reboot

Complete rear seat done. Bought two precut lengths of 15 series extrusion for the front hinge rails(20” and 32”) and utilized the old rail off the 40% section along with a matching piece left over on the garage for the package tray (20” each). A reject poplar glue panel from work makes the base (20”x28 5/8”). Tray mounts to the rear seat rotating hinges so lower storage bins are easily accessible. All in all less the $70 for this set up, not counting the Rigid boxes that we have had for a couple of years. Pretty pleased with how it turned out

With a big trip out west planned for later in the year there’s a few things I want to do with the Mouser.

*Do a complete rear seat delete keeping the fridge where it’s at and adding storage on the passenger side.

Done.

*Rebuild the 20 gal water tank box into something more useful.

Done.

*Add some skid plates.

And now that’s done…

Now I’m thinking about upgrading the lighting…headlights and factory fogs. And a gas tank skid, but not looking forward to those rusty factory straps. My couple hour job with the skids turned onto a 5 hour slog as I fought the results of living in the Rust Belt.

PB Blaster. Spray the bolts, let it soak.

KROIL is good, too.

But you should know this... :p

I really like my RCI skids! I have yet to order the gas tank one though. I have smashed it pretty good.

Out wandering Allegheny National Forest this weekend, still dialing in our camp set up.

Ran out to the Kinzua Bridge Viaduct, what remains of the worlds highest railroad truss bridge ever built. Around 2011 a tornado knocked down 11 of its trestles, the remaining portion were turned into a remembrance park and skywalk…

2 days behind here…got some service here at BLM Horsethief Camp.

Day 3….Colorado And finally Utah. Stopped at Rifle Falls State Park, CO. Nice drive into and a cool little spot to stretch the legs..
IMG_5692.jpeg

Then we poked into Colorado National Monument and drove the Rim Rock Road. Definitely worth doing that.
