So like.....what do you guys do?

LOL...in reality that's what it all amounts to, doesn't it. You have been assimilated.

How long you been back?

Cool thread!
Imagine if we pooled all the resources on the forum and all pitched in to start a new company. We would probably put out some ridiculously awesome tech!
At my day job, I'm an Electrical Engineer, do all sorts of work from satellite systems (mainly defense), unmanned aerial both UCAS and UAS, a little avionics work, mainly on B2's, and other little things that give some variety to the day to day. We get to work on many different applications, which is nice, but my area of expertise is primarily RF Systems with Orbital Dynamics coming in second.
At my night job, that I've been keeping a secret, I'm developing a couple of different electronic devices centered around our overland hobby that I wish existed, or weren't as primitive as the current mass marketed offerings.

Good idea. We're working on an AAV project right now I call "Global Domination." Any experience with death rays?

Hi Guys,

I'm an Account Executive at a small management consulting firm that sells and implements Oracle software and technology products in Southern California. Its not what I had planned as a kid, but it gives me the capital for all of my hobbies!

That's suppose to be a secret you dumb bunny. No ones suppose to know about the secret preemptive AAV Death Star project.

Next he'll go public with details on our AAV Skynet...

Don't let them fool you. This is the best they have come up with.

Don't underestimate the power of the annoyatron.

It's all fun and games until YOU hear the fell sound of that devilish device coming from somewhere in YOUR rig... it will test your sanity.

I'm just a lowly systems technician for AT&T. Concerning the above posts. I believe the members of AAV should start CAARP (Crazy American Adventurist Research Program). This would be a weather control system based on the latest military technology. It would assure amazing weather conditions for any trips or events........or it could just represent an unappreciated fish.

Whatever we end up making, I hope it comes with AARP, the American Adventurist Retirement Plan

I build Specialty Vehicles and upfit cars for the police and government agencies :)

Everything from building cabinets for SRT teams and Fire Command Vehicles, to wiring and building surveillance vehicles.

I freakin' love my job!

Hey, that's what I do too! Well sort of, now I mostly just watch from the sidelines and get held accountable for stuff :D

well, guess I'll bring this thread back from the brink. Welder, through n through. I started out just doing structural (kind of an ironworker, but not really) out in the oil patch of Alberta. Finished my school, will be pressure weld cert'd in a couple months, then its time to pipeline. All camp-baed work, fly in fly out. As a structural guy, a typical rotation was 21/7. 21 days straight of MINIMUM 12 hour days(have worked as long as 17hrs once. that was a rad paycheck) then 7 off. sucks being gone, but camp work is where its at. meals=paid for, wifi=paid for, travel to and from site=paid for. And when you are way out there, theres nothing to spend money on. and the pay is stupid. could be worse.....I could be a pipefitter :D

I am a retired industrial mechanic. What I exactly do these days is, I twang on the guitar, I walk my dog, I do most the cooking, I go exploring around at ghost towns, abandoned mines and old abandoned trails near my house here, I play with my camera shooting things here and there. That's about it. Oh and I pop a few rounds off here and there too.
