So like.....what do you guys do?

Hey guys,
I just joined and did an intro so I may as well go all the way and give some info here also.
I'm a Manufacturing Engineer at Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Ga. currently working on the LO coatings on the exterior of the F35 Lighting II. We work all of the HT's, VT's, Rudders and all spare doors, panels, & covers for the program. Before that I did similar work on the F22 Raptor for 14 years.
Thanks for reading,
Mike

Hey, Mike.
Glad you joined. Time to post pics of your rigs...

I'm a retired navy Firecontrolman. Maintained CIWS and taught MTI & Pulse Doppler processing. Then tried to teach maintenance to army personnel to fill CRAM billets in Iraq. That lasted one whole class. So I ended up filling them with my guys. Hey, great way to make chief, they jumped at it.
I retired in late '08, watched the economy implode and spent four years looking for work and maintaining my sanity though exercise. I finally landed a fed job last Oct. Who says 10 pt vet pref doesn't work? It just takes four years.
I maintain all the elec (PLCs/SCADA) that controls the fresh and waste water in Yosemite Valley. It's a good job. Good folks and lots of little jobs I can dig up to keep busy. It's a heck of a nice place to work, though I've yet to experience tourist season. I'm not a big people person so, we'll have to see how that goes.

Welcome Keezer. Just remember, " though shall not spill blackwater on the ground".
Who's SCADA system do you use? I used to use Mission. Wrked pretty well, far better than the red light.

Tesco hardware with Wonderware. Can't compare it to anything as it's my first experience with PLCs and SCADA. Had a couple days training with the software, seemed pretty simple to build/change things as needed. Better than trying to explain to a software engineer who knows everything about the software and nothing about the system it's controlling. Software engineers! Can't even spell Hodgdon.;)

Hardware would be super simple if they used old school schematics. Unfortunately, time has passed me by and my fifty year old brain defies new learning, but I'm getting there.

Welcome Mike, I currently work the PFC for the Tails and Rudder (Parker, not Moogs). Its a fun program.

I'm a regional account manager (sales rep) for an equipment dealer here in Florida. My company represents and sells everything from heavy equipment to generators, marine engines to cranes. I work for the crane division. I sell/rent/buy crawlers, rough terrains, all-terrains and industrial cranes. Job is super fun...set my own schedule, work from whereever, get to entertain customers with what seems like a limitless credit card. Oh, and I have two fuel cards....definitely helps when I fill up the Tundra.

I work for a local family owned (since 1933) chemical company, that specializes in Barium based products. Not as exciting as some of the jobs you guys have, but I only work 14 days a month, and yet still average a 42 hour a week paycheck each week of the month. Before that I worked in the Land Surveying field for 12 years until the economy went south. The company takes care of us, and the money is good, but the time off to spend with my two daughters is the best.

I always thought that working on a Tug boat would be interesting. How does one get into that line of work?

get your MMC (merchant mariners credential) and TWIC (transportation workers identification card) and start calling and applying to tug companies.

While I could probably make my job sound glamorous, at the end of the day I'm just another drone in a large headquarters in Florida.
