NEW MEMBER INTRODUCTIONS!

Hey gang, just signed up for rendezvous 2016 and though that I would introduce myself. My name is Randy, got into 4 wheeling 5 year ago with my '07 Xterra OR just the way I liked it, and have been modding it ever since. I heard about you guys on the SCCX-terra form. I'm kinda a big wheel over there, but don't worry they keep me humble. We do the adopt-a trail thing up in Big Bear for the last few years and believe in supporting the folks that support our passion. Look forward to meeting you guys this weekend. Thanks for the invite.

Glad to see some SCCX guys joining in. :thumbsup . See you this weekend, and welcome to AAV!

new here first post. I started out with a Jeep YJ hitting the Hollister Hills trails. Now looking at making modding my 2003 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L bigger tires and lift coming soon

Hi folks. I am the guilty British sounding dude with the white Yota with the disaster shizzle on the side. Thank you Cris. Thank you Dave and then thank everyone else who has opened my eyes to many things I want to see. Oh, and for me now needing to save for TONS of truck mods I had NO idea I needed!!! I have been on two trips with Cris, I may have supped a lil too heartily at the moonshine mipple, (#fridaynight) dang it.... I meant nipple. So if I got a lil loud, spilled a lil attitude... my bad. Hope to get to see you all again, y'all kinda rock!

My name's Teague, I live in Tennessee. Like a decent number of folks here I cut my overlanding/off roading teeth on one of these:

I eventually got upgraded to one of these:

I also got to attend one of the few none vehicle based "overlanding" schools in the world.

And now my current project:

I hope to be able to contribute even a tiny amount compared to what I'm picking up here.

Welcome! What part of Tennessee? I'm in Memphis

So I'm not technically new. I've been a member since 2013. But I haven't been around since then and a lot has changed. We joined when we used to have a lifted Trailblazer that was our adventure mobile.

Two years ago we got the travel itch and started selling everything to live full-time on the road. And for the last year we've been exploring, working and living in our Airstream on the road. And it's been a wild ride!

We're not park people. We camp mostly on public lands, BLM, National Forests, National Parks, Wilderness areas, etc. We're fully self-sufficient in our Airstream with 505 watts of onboard solar, 400 amp hours of lithium batteries, and communications equipment so we always have internet. Composting toilet and 40 gallon water tank with 20 gallons of spare. We've got this done.

Right now I'm posting from a boondocking spot Lake Mead.

So we're also big into the expo thing, and it's been a real compromise towing and not having a truly off-road worthy vehicle. Our half ton Ram has been a great performer over the past year. But I can't see myself investing more money into it, especially with limited payload.

So this week while we're outside of Vegas and all we decided to pull the trigger on a 2015 Ram Powerwagon

12822346_163897307328027_1737653348_n.jpg

Has the chops to tow and will be the base of a new expo rig for some adventures beyond were the Airstream can take us. Planning on a custom rack and rooftop tent and some other things.

So I thought I'd check back in, because I've found myself browsing the forums again as we think up ideas for the next chapter of our adventure.

Nice Airstream! I think I can speak for most people when I say, everyone at some time dreams of owning one.

Welcome back. Love the setup, and hope to hear more about your travels

Hello all, My name is Greg from Arizona. I was 11B in the Army a long while back and have always loved hiking, fishing, caving and especially off-roading. I learned to offroad in an old gen 2 boxy Montero and always vowed that I would never buy a Jeep but then the LJ came out and I fell in love. For the last ten years I have spent lots of time upgrading camping and offroading in my LJ and then finally built my military style soft top. It was such a hit that I decided to produce a short run of them and those are on their way. I intend to make these for other Jeep models as well.
Website w more pics/info is www.americanconvoy.com

I am also a travel nut and have been all through central and south america as well as the carribean (including Cuba), Europe and southeast asia.

This looks like a great site. Glad to be here.

I actually had four different 2 doors. I destroyed one, bought another 4 cylinder, then purchased a 6 cylinder auto (didn't like it) then bought a 6 cylinder manual. I had 32" tires and had many clutch issues, even with the 6 cylinder so I finally gave up and bought a Jeep. I did really love my Montero. Very cool vehicle!

Mine is the 3.0 manual with 33x12.50 I've had absolutely no issues (knock on wood).
I almost bought a 2 door but I needed the extra room, and for $1500 I couldn't pass it up. Same reason I don't have a Jeep to small for my family plus gear.
If it was just me I would have a Jeep.

Hey all, I'm Hunter. I live in Massachusetts currently but will be moving to Arizona in the next few years. I was an 0311 in the Marines, and during my service I lost touch with actual camping. Although I also gained a lot of useful backpacking/back country skills.

Now that I'm out I intend to get back in touch with nature and get out there more.

I currently own and Audi A4, which doesn't help much with the overland/off-road fun stuff. I am however, looking for a Tacoma or 4 runner.

I look forward to meeting everyone and hopefully linking up with some of you at some point.
