Andy G
Adventurist
Guess I should chime in here...don't think I have introduced myself as of yet.
I'm Andy...retired Coast Guard Chief (23 years), 14 of those in Alaska where adventure was literally right outside my backdoor. Love vehicle adventure travel (not a fan of the "O" word), camping, hiking, fly-fishing, fly-tying, fat biking, and canoeing.
I'm adjusting to life outside the military (holy crap, I'm NOT a fan of the civilian workforce!!!), AND trying to adjust to living in Southwest Michigan (things are SOOO different here from Kodiak, Alaska!).
Anyhow...I've traveled all over Alaska, the Yukon and Northwest Territories on a Ural. Have always owned at least one "adventure travel" vehicle, too. Currently that's a 2002 Isuzu Trooper, which as it turns out, is probably the most capable and certainly largest interior rig I've ever owned. She's an absolute BEAST in the snow, and so far has done pretty well running off-road on some 2-tracks.
Peace!
Andy
