Is the all-electric Rivian R1T a dream truck for Adventurists?

Red Alert 2 Old???? I still have the original Command and Conquer Box from 95

Rivian also trademarked the terms “tank turn” and “tank steer,” referring to independently moving wheels that can enable extremely tight turns. Scaringe confirmed that this feature would be available on the R1S, the R1T, and future quad-drive vehicles.

So it can turn in place kinda like a skid steer loader? That's cool.

There's a CGI video example of the R1T doing that. Basically, the electric motors on each side spin in opposite directions giving you a 360 turn "in place". Impossible with current gen mechanical diffs for obvious reasons.

Pretty damn cool, although I can tell you from my experience with armored vehicles, this maneuver can be quite damaging to the ground and probably should be used sparingly if you care about Tread Lightly.

Thinking about the times I used a skid steer and how much rubber was left on the pavement I'm pretty sure it's not kind on the tires either. Especially on a long wheelbase like a pickup and aired down. You'd have to have bead locks. Independent front and back steering would help prevent the tires from being dragged sideways but now things are getting really complicated.

Agreed. Looks cool in CGI though :D

And for the record, this is the FUGLIEST truck of all time. The damn thing is just oozing in estrogen.

The FOAT!

How many of these are even out in the wild for this to be anything more than paid advertorial on the part of MT :what
Isn’t that what MT (and so many other mags) is? Just another advertising resource with authority for sale.

For EV trucks. I expect a ridgeline body. But then we get to the front. That hideous front.
