That pesky RTT ladder has had me scratching my head but I think I’ve solved it.
Quick Pitch uses a nice telescoping ladder, but I’m not a fan of storing it inside the tent. Seems like a good way to import moisture and funk into the sleeping area. So I devised another way using some extra parts I had laying around, and a couple of small cam straps.
Now it just loads into the previously unused space between the rack and the tent, which keeps it up and out of the way. Any movement forward, backwards, or left and right is physically limited by steel brackets.
To remove it, the cam straps need to be released and then the ladder is lifted up slightly and withdrawn from it's home.
Here you can see the far end, secured and rattle-free.
This end of the ladder cannot bounce out, twist, or make any noise in this configuration while underway. I like the fact that the ladder does not block my vision in the rear view mirror.
The small aluminum plate acts as a guide when inserting the ladder from the far side.
With this, the ladder can't fall down if you miss the mark.
