Charcoal BBQs

Love my snow peak BBQ box. Yes it is t cheap however after a few years of use it still looks almost like new. I just spray it with oven cleaner and it washed up amazingly well. Well worth the in investment IMHO. Place it in a pelican case with a bag of charcoal and I call it done.

It's a great grill! Well built, easy to clean, and, as noted above, packs well in a Pelican case!

I picked up the fold flat grill at my local Wal-mart for less than $20 around Christmas time. For those of you that are using charcoal, how are you transporting the charcoal and what are using to light it? I have a chimney but its so big and the bag of charcoal always leaves a mess in the back of the SUV, no matter how careful I am. I'm also looking for a solution on packing charcoal on a canoe camp trip without getting it wet and easily lighting it.

I don't have one, but Home Depot sells a plastic charcoal bucket. Too bulky for my needs, but it will contain the dust. Look at the Flat Fire folding chimney. Nice, but expensive.

I use the chimney, but it is the perfect size for my coffee percolator to fit in. so I dont have wasted space and it protects the coffee. As for the charcoal it self, I just carry a bag and make sure it is closed well

Baja style, used whatever wood we could find in the area for fuel.

My Daughter got me this a few years ago for my birthday.

Looks like the one above. Folds really flat.

Snow Peak - the name makes my wallet cringe. When camping, I find that I have extra time to enjoy taking the time to light charcoal, let it fire up and then burn whatever it is I'm cooking (kidding). But seriously, in an effort to appeal to the rest of us with normal wallets, what kind of charcoal grill are you using? Granted, if you have some expensive grill, tell us why you got it, was it worth it, etc.

NO GAS GRILLS!

I use a FireSense Notebook Grill. It cost $25 at Kmart. I see Kmart doesn't sell it anymore, but it's available on Amazon with rave reviews. I love mine. Collapses flat, grills like a champ - tri-tip, burger, dogs, sausages. It's so packable and light that taking it to the beach is awesome! It also has a carry bag so just dump out the ash, pack it up and keep everything clean.
