A new beginning?

Thanks guys, tomorrow is truly the first day of the rest of our lives!

Machelle and I are confident that we can pull this off. We've been married 35 years...in a row! Living in close quarters can't be any tougher than the separation we endured when I was out to sea. Then again, back then, men were born men, and ships had boilers and steam turbines!

I have to tell you folks once again how cool it is that we have a tight enough community here at AAV that this many people have been following my story and the trials and tribulations to get through this process. I can only hope that I save someone some time, money, or effort, from our experiences as told here!

Machelle and I are pretty excited about tomorrows transition. The next biggest challenge is hooking the trailer into our new homestead (OK, spot in a parking lot...homestead just sounds cooler!).

GAME ON! Machelle told me I get the three cupboards over the sofa bed at the end of the trailer...she just rescinded on that offer and took one of the cupboards for her cookbooks! This is NOT going to go well for one of us!
She'll have you in a tag a long before you know it (-;

Soooo Bob what are you doing with that extra 1.5 hrs a day that you recouped with new commute? I'm not buy'n the yard work excuse
:rofl

I'm not sure what I'm doing with it. I feel like I've been busier than a one legged man at an ass kicking convention.

I do know that I get an extra half hour of sleep in the mornings!

We're supposed to be getting our Direct TV hooked up either today or tomorrow.

Not so fast - good food is very important. Consider it a necessary sacrifice! ;)

I think we're pretty well settled in and adjusting to our new routines.

ATT in our area has the WORST customer service EVER. It took numerous phone calls, a couple of trips by their "tech" (that didn't know how to enter a password) to get our internet service set up. A final trip by a very competent Direct TV installer that went out of his way to get our TV service going, and now we're in business.

We got a portable fence set up around the estate so we can let the dogs out without surveillance. Mac (our Boxer) could probably crash the fence, and Penny (Boston Terrier/Aussie Cattle Dog mix) could jump it if she wanted to.(30" fence)

Still working on the picture thing!

OK, I officially suck...not a picture to be found and it's been damn near a year!

That's the side of our screen room, and our "yard". Penny can clear the 30" fence but doesn't know it, or she can climb the embankment in the background (she's done that once). We have a little herb garden growing in the pots in the foreground, tomatoes and jalapeno peppers along with some flowers. The $$$ is in the pots, if/when we move I'll give most of the plants away but keep the pots.

We added a second roof air today. The trailer came with a 15,000BTU ducted AC system, I was hoping that was going to be adequate considering we have the "Arctic" insulation package, it's marginal at best in our climate. Admittedly, we're talking the SoCal area where we see a probably 21+ days a year with temps over 100*. Fortunately the vent in the bedroom was pre-wired for the AC unit. We added a Coleman Mach 3 Power Saver 13,500BTU unit to the equation.

Pro's...

I just had to try it, even tough it wasn't hot today. It cooled our bedroom down to chilly in 30 minutes or so.

Con's...

Even on low speed the damn thing is LOUD. Add the TV into the equation...and it will be LOUDER. The price we pay for our comforts!

In other news...

My commute ROCKS, I really did get an hour and a half of my life back per day just in commute time.

We have AWESOME neighbors, active duty Navy, Marine, one of the groundskeepers, and 3 retired couples...2 of 3 are veterans.

I enjoy the maintaining the potted plants and some of the stuff I've planted in the ground in our little plot.

We are enjoying the lifestyle.

Trailer mods, we took the dining table/chairs out and put in a desk and a cat pole.

I've figured out how to do the picture thing now. I'll get some more up...umm..soon?

Damnit!

It's one of those I can see it but you can't things!

It's pointing to an image in what looks like your yahoo mailbox. Which means someone has to be logged into that yahoo account to see it.
