This thread is dedicated to general chit chat regarding the 2015 Socal Desert Rendezvous in an effort to keep the official thread "clean"

Let this be a place for rabbit hole type discussions.

I'll start. I'm looking forward to

It's my understanding that the Xpedition Outfitters Tropical Island Anti-Radar Defense Tarp will be present again this year. Can't wait for stories around the campfire again!

Steve - does the last pic mean you've arranged for a 200 ft fly by again? Different location than that pic, but super cool nonetheless!

Hopefully someone will tell the Dutch oven entrants they get to sample before the herd this year?

Thanks for getting this going Steve

No problem. Glad to help out.

They haven't returned my calls as of yet.... :D

I think this should be strictly enforced!

That was my concern about the Dutch oven competition.. seems most of the goodies are scared before the competitors even get to try thier dish, or other dishes. Hardly seems fair.

Also looking forward to

The Mojoe Griddle creations!

Hopefully we have clear skies for some star gazing and astro photography

Second the Dutch Oven entrants. I don't mind scraping the bottom of the barrel as a spectator, but the entrants deserve a fresh taste first.

Looking forward to the XOTIARDT!

I missed the last DRV, but this was not the case up at the Mountain. They held the herd until all the entrants had a chance to sample most if not all the dishes. Mitch did a great job in organizing the competition. Looking forward to this competition, I'm already planning for my entry.

Mitch has done a great job of honing the Dutch Oven competition. It has gotten better and is running smoother every year

Interesting. I was at the last mrv, but didn't get in the line till late, so I didn't realize the entrants got a chance to try the dishes. Good stuff.

I appreciate the kind words. :D

The only reason things have gotten better is because I've loosened up and accepted the help of Stuart and Cris. Two invaluable components of the competition from now on.

I tried to do everything, and it wasn't easy. It's still not easy, but with their help, we make it look good for you guys.

Mitch, I'll volunteer to help if needed as well. Current plan is to roll out to drv with Cris on Thursday night, so I'm all good with helping out if you need the help.

No problem guys! Thanks! See me that afternoon.

One huge thing I did to make an improvement on the Dutch Oven competition was to NOT go on trail runs, or get too far away from Camp. It seems something would always come up and we didn't make it back in time to get things rolling.

The last Mountain Rendezvous was the best yet in terms of how smoothly things went, and I plan on bringing what I learn each time to make the next one better.

So, in light of that, instead of making a list of volunteers, if you want to help, make a mental note that you'd like to help with the Dutch Oven competition, and if you're there, great. I know I have at least two guys I can count on. So if you get stuck on the trail behind someone who blocks the way, don't sweat it, get there when you can. This way, you're not committing yourself unless you're able to do so!

I'm more than happy to help, and not go in a trail run, I'll just have to run out on Friday and collect some trash for my t shirt ticket :)

You can do that on Saturday with everyone else, just be mindful of the time.

We will see how it works out :) I'm gonna be out there Thursday night, so we will get together and figure out what's up on friday. I'm sure I could go out early morning Saturday and be back for the Dutch oven on plenty of time. What time do you need volunteers to start helping?

Around 5PM. Participants should start planning to get started around 3:30 to 4:00 PM
