July Monthly Trail Run - Sunday 07/31 Pioneer to Big Bear

So, at the end of the day, Brett did a quick after action meeting. No trail damage, fun all around, great trip overall. But he also asked if anyone was planning on modifying their rig now... no response. Based more on getting lucky and moving my plans forward six months, I'm having an ICON Stage 2 suspension installed at Demello on Thursday!
:truck Hey, does this smiley some in black?

^^^^Curious what the truck would not do that you want to modify it to do?

It could use a little more clearance. No damage but a few scrapes underneath and a scuff on the front bumper cover. I'd also like it to carry a little more weight on occasion. The truck is new to me but is five years old, coming up on 50,000 miles on the stock suspension. It could probably last a while as is but the deal was too good to pass up.

Nice pictures fellas. Wish I made it but I as out venue shopping for my upcoming wedding. Yay. Seems that every weekend is now busy with stuff...

No one wanted anyone to do anything. I simply asked after the run if anyone feels they want to do any mods after that run. Usually people vehicle strengths and shortcomings as well as things they just want to do after days like this. So I asked.

Sliders imho for any vehicle that will see any off road are a must. Then clearance approach, departure angle and skids are nice but not absolutely necessary. You just wheel accordingly to your capability and your vehicles ability. Simple as that.

Then again there is always this lol

^^^^I was trying to figure this one out...then I re-read my post...I meant to say "THAT" you wanted to do...it came out "THEY" wanted you to do (I fixed the other post). Sorry for any confusion.

I'd seen the truck before and thought it was nicely built, that's why I was curious on modifications.

Funny, I read it as "that" anyway, I think. The truck is great, worked very well, just a few rubs here and there I'd rather avoid in the future. I've wanted a little more lift/clearance anyway. This trail confirmed that for me, then the deal presented itself so I jumped.

I'm very interested in your impressions after the Icon install. My 4Runner is the same as yours except it's a 2013. Black too! Kind of been following along since you posted the pics when you bought yours.

I talked to Daniel at Demello last week about the same Stage 2. Very tempting...But...does a suspension like this shorten the life of the remaining stock parts?

Please post up after you get the Icon installed. More clearance is great, I wonder how different the ride is on and off road.

Thanks for leading a great trip Brett! Sorry to miss out on the Holcomb Valley leg of the trip. I really love that area. But I did make it home in time for the birthday dinner!
Photo dump:
Early portion of the trail. Looks about as steep as it was.

Clouds looked promising.

Enjoyed the drive too much to take any photos until we reached the Doble Mine above Baldwin Lake.
