July Monthly Trail Run - Sunday 07/31 Pioneer to Big Bear

Hi, we wont be able to make this trail run.. Have a fun safe trip ! See you at the MR
shelly and steve

Brett, do you have a 2M frequency picked out yet? Want to make sure all my comms are sorted ahead of time.

List update to reflect MtnGote not going. Also for the HAM channel of 146.460 will be our radio freq

Damn, I could use a trail run. Big Bear borders on being almost too much travel time to make a day run worth while. If the run was on Saturday I'd camp and justify the trip. You guys have a great trip!

Why not camp on Saturday then trail run on Sunday... [emoji2]

It's still a hike to get home after the run on Sunday. I'm old and fat, need all the rest I can get Sunday afternoon to face the grind that starts again Monday morning. Twenty years ago sleep was for when you die...apparently I'm closer to death because I need it now!

It's one of the minis me's birthdays this weekend which is why I made the run Sunday. Won't be a normal thing.

Thanks for the 2m freq, I'll monitor it for traffic while SCCX is out doing our trail cleanup on 2n02.

Look what the nice man in the brown truck just left at my house:

Brown Santa dropped off a very similar box for me yesterday. Mine is a UV-82HP in blue.

The meet up is at 0900 but Pappy and Harriet's isn't open for breakfast. Anyone know of a good spot in Yucca or close by? Pre-meet for breakfast?

C&S Coffee Shop Yucca Valley. 55795 Twentynine Palms Hwy. OR, Carla's Route 62 Diner Yucca Valley. 55405 Twentynine Palms Hwy. Both open at 6am. Hope you guys have a good day. It's overcast this AM, pretty unusual.

Thanks Brett, we had a great time. It was nice to finally get a chance to test out all the wiz-bang electronic goodies on my 4Runner. Everything worked well and I really appreciate you and Jonathan (out the window) spotting to be sure everyone got through all the obstacles safely. Below are a few photos from the trip.

Great pics so far gang, thanks for taking them. I expect and hope to see more. I know Jacki took pics also. I took a little bit of GoPro and Drone footage but was mostly busy leading and navigating so didnt have much time for that myself.

We ended up taking Burns Canyon with a jaunt off Heartbreak skipping the Sluice and looping back to Burns which we then left to take Smarts Ranch Road back to the hightway, once at the highway the group decided they wanted more so I took them through Jacoby Canyon to Holcomb and dropped down Van Drusen into Big Bear where we completed the trip. It was roughly 35 miles off road.

Both Heartbreak and Jacoby did not disappoint. I believe there was learning involved for some and fun had by all. No trail damage was had and as promised all vehicles were brought home in one piece!

Thanks again for leading. I'm looking forward to Jacki's pics since she was the only one that brought a decent camera.

Thanks Brett for a great trail run.
I didn't get too many photos, but here is a decent panorama of the trucks. I need to go back to the RAWs and re-do this, but it will serve for now.

Trip was a total success. Thanks Brett for guiding us and for the great driving guidelines given to the group.
Brian thank you for setting up the hand held for us, and to everyone else it was a pleasure traveling with you.
