Winches

Australia does have strict limits on suspension heights that they enforce during vehicle registration inspections (among other things). According to a "mate" there, the government gives no quarter - correct it or forfeit your truck. Same reason ARB bumpers are safety rated and impact tested - it's the law if you want to sell a bumper there and drive on public roads.

It is one of the first "nanny" states...

Front mount standard, movable front to back receiver hitch. Mobile, not attached. I run alone a lot, thinking through different mount systems. Winch prices make me think double duty. Any one same boat? Answers?

To get back to the original post, have you considered MaxTrax? They will get you out of a lot of different sticky situations. I see that you are in Yuma, and if you have a winch you may need to consider a land anchor as well. The desert is my favorite place to go, and there are just not a lot of spots where you can attach a tree strap or the such too. If you're out with other folks you can winch off of them.

If you can afford to do both a winch and maxtrax I'd go with those, and if you can only do one I'd personally start with the maxtrax first.

Have maxtrax.

Well, then I am in the same boat with you. I run alone a decent amount, I have maxtrax and I opted for a front bumper and winch to maximize my abilities to get out of situations as easily as possible by myself. The last piece I want to add to my kit to really feel self sufficient is a pull-pal so that I can have a land anchor when in the desert. So that's I guess what I would recommend. Maxtrax + winch + land anchor
