No, not yet, some day we'll get down to the Okefenokee. Our first trip of the year was to Merchants Millpond State Park. Almost in Old Viginnie, it's a whole 9.3 miles from the state line within the borders of North Carolina. It's the furthest north in the Alligators range, and there are only a few living there. Cypress trees, swamp, gators, and kayaks = fun times. Trip report is forthcoming, there was a lot! of rain, but it was worth it.
Trying out the zoom on my Canon SX50, the Osprey was far enough away everyone thought it was a Bald Eagle from the distance. The lizard was sunning himself on a log about 30 feet away from us.
I do not photograph birds very often and had a good time watching the sun come up. I did find that a 200mm lens on a crop-sensor body does not provide enough "reach" for this type of photography. Most of these birds were small...
