Great shots so far! Thanks for the submissions! Keep them coming!

A few pointers. And these are only POINTERS, NOT CRITIQUES of any image in here.

A well composed photograph, as opposed to a snapshot, is one that is framed with purpose, maybe using certain rule sets, like the "Rule of Thirds" or "Lead Room". A well composed photograph is timed to allow interferences to get out of the frame, like a car that is obstructing the view of your subject, or a group of people passing out of the frame before you press the shutter. It is a level horizon line. It is focused on the subject or dominating feature.

A Snapshot is just that, a capture of a moment in time of a subject without concern for what is happening in the background or surroundings. These make great scrapbook photos because it captures the memory of the event really well. Sometimes a snapshot is an afterthought. "OOH! I'd better take a pic for the scrapbook!" then turn to your subject and hit the shutter. Snapshots are great for people who were there and will easily recall the event and the emotions.

Snapshots are great for what they are, but they're not usually used for print, like postcards or brochures, because outsiders have a hard time relating to them, having not shared the memory.

With that said, we're looking for photographs. An easy guideline to see what we're after is in the AAV Wallpaper Thread. Stunning shots that inspire you to close this window, get in your adventure mobile, and go visit that spot, right now, with extreme spontaneity.

Ready? Set! GO!

Mount Whitney California. Looking up from the Alabama Hills just west of Lone Pine. Many of our good old Western movies that we enjoyed as kids were filmed here.

NOW we're talkin'!

Good composure, a little hazy (might be fixable), but I like the arrangement!

A couple of my own, and testing some changes I made to the forum's image upload system! :)

High above Santa Barbara, with totally awesome views to the Channel Islands. Helping mountain bikers on the trail. They said the trail was longer than they thought. I asked if they had enough water. They were not sure. So I filled them up! Fun guys! It's not only about the adventure. It's about helping others!

I love that Glacier NP picture, good job.
That was a surprise too.
We were flogging the Jeep along a dirt road and the road ended abruptly after a muddy patch. I got out of the Jeep to recon the u-turn and was pondering what to do next when my wife tugged on my sleeve and said, "turn around and look at that view..."
Perfect hole in the trees to that scene. My jaw dropped.
