Toro Peak

Team Balls Out

Adventurist
Time to take a break from reality heading to Toro Peak this weekend with my dog, Richard and Anna to try to escape the heat in Vista. Weather should be nice. Leaving Friday the 13th and returning sometime Sunday.

Keep an eye on the weather - We got chased off Toro Peak a couple of years back when a hot/muggy day down below turned into a thunderstorm on the peak in the span of about 20 minutes. The rain didn't bother us, but the lightning strike within a couple hundred yards of us got our attention!

We felt a bit too exposed, and I wasn't willing to climb up onto the roof rack to fetch the tools I needed to make dinner. My little girl was much happier with a night spent with live music and pizza down in Idyllwild, then we moved up to Thomas Mtn for the 2nd/3rd nights.

It was nice pretty much most of the day. Till @ 3 when my brother and his wife showed up. It started to sprinkle a bit so we put the easy up up and it poured, Than it stopped while tying to make dinner it poured again so we packed it up and headed home. Nothing in the weather report said rain. We had been following the weather for a few days, Now they called for thunder showers and heavy rain for the night and into the next day!

While heading down we came across some guys that got stuck in the mud pretty good so we winched them out. I gave him the winch cable and told him to attach it to a strong point and was not responsible for any damage. He was stuck pretty good. He wanted to give me some money, I told him to keep it but in return just return the favor if some one else need help and ask them to pass it on as well.

Mainly the trip was to take the dog on his first camping trip. He did real well and had a blast while we were up there. He got pretty dirty running around but it is what it is.

Now in Ray's defence he did have a fishing licence with him but did NOT have the Toro Peak enhancement stamp for a Tacoma so it was a catch and release.

Like everyone else who has had a misadventure the thought that it would be forever memorialized by a bystander with a cell phone was not considered.
I speak from a position of been there did that. :D

Why I'd never buy a vehicle that has any mods, suspension lift etc. I believe generally that people are morons and there is a much higher percentage of morons in a group that modifies vehicles. This vehicle doesn't looks like it has many mods but still...
Taco Bell... o_O

Sorry, could be my immature humor kicking in.

Some people encounter digestive issues after eating there... so I've seen a few similar examples.

Ok - Back on topic, need to hit Toro Peak again. Hopefully with no flooding involved.
