Thanks to the contributions of our members, American Adventurist had a GREAT first year as a Forum.
As we look toward the future we recognize that building a community is all about the people, and here at American Adventurist that community of people's interest revolves around Adventure Travel.
So, in recognition of an outstanding year behind us and a bright future ahead, I commission the following Trip Report Contest:
CONTEST:
1. Reply to this thread with a link to your trip report. It can be a day trip, a weekend trip or even a multi-day expedition. Do not post your trip report in this thread, it must be posted in the General Adventure Reports section.
2. We will allow one month from today to execute your new trip, post a write-up (explaining where you went and what you did so that everyone can follow along) and link it in this thread.
3. On 12 April 2014,the entries will be voted on (via a poll) by the general members of the American Adventurist community.
*Here are some details that make a great trip report:
-Directions and narrative detailing where you went and how you got there. Maps, GPS links and Google Map pictures are a GREAT resource.
-What kinds of activities are available? Off-road only? Camping? Hiking? Kayaking?
-What did you like best about the area?
-What did you like least?
-Are there any tips you would give to someone who might replicate the trip?
-LOTS of good pictures and a witty narrative are a winning combination - spin us a yarn worthy of our vote!
PRIZES:
1. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a generous GEAR prize and bragging rights!
2. Second place will receive a guaranteed VIP RSVP for the Mountain or Appalachian Rendezvous events - and cool event swag!
3. Third place will receive an AAV patch and decal set.
All three winners will be feature articles on AAV social media channels.
RULES:
1. One entry per member.
2. The trip MUST BE OUTDOOR ORIENTED. We don't want to hear about your road trip to the strip mall.
3. Existing trip reports are not eligible. You can write a report for a trip that you have already completed, as long as it was not previously covered here or on another forum or blog.
4. You must submit a link in this thread to your trip report thread on AAV for your trip.
5. Do not post your trip report in this thread, it must be posted in the General Adventure Reports section.
6. Please do not clutter this thread with comments about individual threads - please post in the appropriate thread.
*The deadline for entries is noon on 4/11/2014. We will create a poll for the contestants and voting will run from 4/12 through noon on 4/14/14.*
