Sally & I got hooked on Backcountry Discovery Adventure Routes some years back, (it's our preferred method of travel) we done 4 states of the TAT, & several BDR's in various states. What we've notice "some" a few of the routes have been changed do to riders & 4x4 causing private landers problems, Oklahoma is one of the TAT routes, that required rerouting from Sam Correro. What is worrisome is those who have zero consideration & a lack of respect to the route & existing land owners properties. Another example was Oklahoma Sugar Creek Loop, sections of that route was trashed by 4x4er's, the founder of that route took the route off his Facebook page as well as 4 other routes to do what I described above. I was lucky to get all the Oklahoma Discovery Adventure Routes from him (he knows my character) I was talking with a guy from Northern California, Ben & we got talking about the Los Padres National Forest & he mention Big Sur Adv. Route, come to find out I used to hunt & jeep although that area, he mention areas of Plaskett Ridge is gated off now as well as he mention certain areas of Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara are gated off. As a ex-Cali I jeeped all over those areas in my 46 CJ2A & my 1972 Suzuki LJ20. California has some of the best scenic offroad routes in this country with a vast changing of geographical to changes in topography. My fear is loosing access to all this through out our country do to mistreatment & lack of responsibility to our natural public resources. What these scum bag thugs are the problem that's causes these closures & what they do not care about is that the locals (famers & ranchers) have to use these roads \ routes too.
The wife & I are excited we planning our 2025 may trip running the Pony Express Trail Rout (eastern section) 1st. We've done all what I listed over in this post with full size 4x4 truck pulling a 1,600 lb small squaredrop camper & leaving it better than we found it.
