Well, I have not seen anyone post up and trail runs yet so I am going to. I am helping with the Dutch oven competition, so I am going to keep this to a small group, and an easy trail so I can get back in time. I am not positive of the exact route I am taking yet, but it will most likely be Clarks Grade. Clarks Grade was an early toll road leading into the Big Bear valley, and is listed as black diamond, but it is not a big deal, just a fire road with switch backs. I pulled the trailer up it a couple of weeks ago, and it is in great shape. Here is a little history of Clarks Grade http://www.bigbearhistorysite.com/big-bear-historical-articles/roads-into-big-bear/

Prefered communication will be 2m Ham 146.460 I will also carry FRS

Vehicle / Safety Requirements:

Vehicle must be street legal.
NO ALCOHOL BEFORE OR DURING THE TRAIL RUN

Roll bar or factory installed hard top.
Emergency brake, parking brake, line-lock or other redundant braking system.
Tow strap or rope (recommend rated at 2 times the vehicle weight).
First aid kit.
Jack capable of lifting the vehicle & tools to change tire.
Spare tire within 3 inches diameter of other tires, or, for tires 37" or larger, run-flats or tools to repair/reinflate tire.
Fire extinguisher with gauge indicating good/full, appropriately stored.
Seat belts for all vehicle occupants.
Antennas must be rigid or restrained in a manner to prevent injuries.
Adequate attachment points front and rear, i.e. tow hooks, receiver, etc. Tow balls are not permitted.
Battery hold downs (no bungie cords).

You will also want to bring whatever snacks, lunch and comfort items you want. Remember, the weather in the mountains can change rapidly so go prepared.

I will be limiting this to 10 rigs so we can keep things moving and make it back in time.

I guarantee I might have an idea of where we are going by the time we leave, if not, I will fake it. Either way we will probably make it back to camp

I don't have a fire extinguisher :( Maybe I should buy one? Where does one buy a fire extinguisher?

Where you buy it is not nearly as important as where you store/install it. should securely fastened and accessible preferably from drivers seat. Nothing ruins your day like an engine fire with the extinguisher in the back of the vehicle (you think)under a 100lb pile of God knows what.

Is this trail fullsize long bed friendly? I'm assuming so, since you're going, Cris?

I pulled the trailer up it 3 weeks ago, you will be fine, should I add you to the list

Also, my only means of communication is a cb (that I need to tune before the trail run) and a cell phone... hope that will work ok

alright, I think I have everyone to this point on the list with 2 spots remaining. I should be able to put together the details this weekend and get them posted up

Tentatively, yes.

How long of a run are you expecting, Cris?

I will put together the "final" plan this weekend, but if I had to guess I would say somewhere between 30 and 40 miles or so. nothing technical though, just a nice cruise in the forest with some good views, stop for lunch along the way and be back at camp by about 3 at the latest

Alright, with Guri, that puts us at 10 rigs so this trip is now full. If anyone backs out I will update the list, and you can feel free to check with me at MRV for any last minute spots. If anybody would like to lead another run, I would be more then happy to help you plan a route.
