More bad news for diesel

This is in response to the gas being more practical than diesel. In my opinion backed by decades of driving old mechanical diesels. I wont go back to gas. The new diesel with extra emmissions equipment are too far removed from the original peanut oil burning diesels. Those by the way did not need financial slavery inspired inefficient emmissions equipment. So in typical corporate/governmental/bureaucratic fashion we have a great design of motor held hostage by greed. Anyway try a mechanical diesel you may change your mind. I like vehicles that dont require a laptop. Dont get me wrong I love the idea of the Cummins V8. If I want to complicate my life I can always get married again or go back to working for the government. Great choices if you want to increase your blood pressure and slow down your progress in life. Try running 10 year old gas. I couldnt do without the independance of diesel. The fat house cats always howl when they are out of milk, I guess I am more of an alley cat.

I drive both a 25 year old mechanical diesel and a 15 year old gasser, and I'm unsure of what you are talking about in regards to the "independence of diesel." I love my diesel, but it's not as practical as the gas motor in my truck.

Independance of Diesel is in referance to the multifuel capability. Most mechanical diesels are able to run on a mixture of waste motor oil, atf, veggie oil, etc. Diesel will store for over 10 years if sealed and kept at a stable consistent temp. Most mechanical diesels will continue to run even when you lose your alternator or the battery fails. That was some of the independance I was thinking of. I personally was able to continue my trip safely when I had an electrical failure on the road. I was able to get to my destination 2 hours away with a bad alt and dead battery. That is very nice when you are miles from civilization.

A gasser works well for quick local trips. I would prefer not to warm up my diesel for a 5 min run. I had a friend with a ford f 350. I think it was the 6.7 diesel. When it would do its purge cycle it got somewhere around 6mpg. He always complained about that truck. He probably would think the gas motor was an improvement. What do you have for your mechanical diesel. I love my cummins 12 valve. I put it in a 2.5 ton military truck which was a multi- fuel. My daily is a toyota w/a mercedes turbo diesel. Right around 30mpg. I can run waste oil if I want to in both up to 50%. I dont run it on the public roads or highways though.

Nice! Did you have to import it or bought it from someone who did?

Thats a great truck!

Thanks!

It is! Driven by a little old lady and only when the sun is shining between April and October, and then only to buff with a cotton baby diaper. :D;)

Thanks for the assistance in this thread, Tim. I do have to correct this post though... The Cruiser as been out a handful of times this winter after rain has sufficiently washed the salt away. I expect in the next couple weeks I will be able to drive it full-time again.

Wait... Did you call me an old lady? :lol

:tango

Edit: The baby diaper comment is somewhat accurate though. :D

I am probably ridiculous with my truck that way too. I usually wait for rain to avoid salt when I have to go out before april. I need a diaper and a pull-up for mine.
