Inexpensive equipment you cannot do without

We always concentrate on the expensive stuff and do gear reviews on them but I know everyone of us have things in our gear bag that we just can't do without. They are usually fairly inexpensive and often. Overlooked but we use them every time we camp. I figured this would be a good place to share those things.

Bic lighter.
I own an insane amount of BIC lighters, most useful things second only to a diggit tool (multi tool)

I have one in my pocket all the time and i don't even smoke, I have like 5 in my truck, in the kitchen, in my camp gear. they are THE BEST.

For me, it's the cheap fireplace lighter with the long handle and long tip. I keep one in the bag with my grill to light it when camping, and I keep one in the truck as well. I'm amazed at how much I use it.

Concur on the lighters, I also always carry a couple of large trash can liners which have many uses and take up little space

Trash bags were next on my list, followed by a $20 synthetic fleece type blanket.

I've talked about cheap blankets in other threads, but I'll hit the highlights again here. Impromptu awning/roof for a Jeep, put it under a tire when in deep sand for traction, lay on it when under your junk trying to figure out what that damn clanging noise is, ground liner/padding under your sleeping bag, and if it comes down to it, you can always use it as a blanket to keep your honey warm!

I have had a petzl zipka for a few years. It is very compact. Zero bulk, I carry it in my daypack, dry bag, pocket, etc. very handy.

^^^^I had to Google that to figure out what the hell it was! Headlamp, I have a couple of cheap ones. I'm not organized/have too many vehicles/combination of vehicles/move stuff around, forget stuff, lose stuff (until I find it where I stuck it at that moment) to spend decent $$$ on quality stuff like that.

I just stepped up to bling cooking/eating products...baby steps...the GSI cookware is not here yet, backordered.

This is one of mine. It's a bottle opener for twist off (obvious) or use the tail as a traditional bottle opener. The kydex is a holster for my belt or backpack. I own several of these and they remain in various packs of mine as well as my battle belt (a story for another day).

Another item is a $100 spot messenger that goes everywhere with me when I hunt or camp. Cheap insurance.

Zip ties, super glue, JB weld and duck tape. Not much that can't be fixed with these items. At least for a few hundred yards anyway.

I don't like things to slide or roll around. My two favorites are bungee cords and small ratchet straps. Military 550 cord is probably another.

These items I carry in my pockets at ALL times:

Bic Lighter (I don't smoke)
Zipka headlamp
Swiss Army Knife
Sharpie marker
Contractor's pencil
Notepad/calendar

Cam

Oh yeah... Carry cash... It can be a supremely useful lubricant to make the world work for you when you are in a bind.

Baffled...how many baby fox (kit) could you possibly need, regardless of circumstances?

Oh wait, you meant "kit" like "stuff"...had me confused for a minute. Easy enough to do.

I try to bring a buddy, with his vehicle. Worst case situation, it cost me gas $$$ to have a ride home available if needed...or someone to be sitting in jail with me! (a good buddy won't come bail you out of jail, he'll be sitting there with you).

It's been a long week and it's only Wednesday, humor me!
