HAM - Dual Band and locator

I used aprs to track a recent cross country trip and don't think I was ever transmitting over 5w on the aprs side of my ftm-350ar.

I only recently realized that I had a serious antenna issue affecting voice quality (broken conductor; resulting in high SWR), yet APRS has run good all the while... that coupled with the lower power needs shows the power of the digital packet message getting the information out!

I think the class that Jay [@mtnbike28] arranged at the Appalachian Rendezvous 2016 was very well received. I'd like to see another one offered.

Are you talking about the Mountain Bike class of pain... I think "well received" might be a little misleading.....

No, Jay made arrangements with some local HAM radio club members to provide an entry-level class on HAM radio. It was very good.

Unlike the ARV Mountain Bike kiddy-course for gentle snow-flakes that you just described. :p
